141 Seeds per Nomad

I'm pretty nervous ... jokes about Nomad aside, he is just running the numbers here. Seeing how they didn't even bother adjusting EIWA allocations for Ivy Leagues being out (which was literally simple math) I don't see how they don't just throw numbers in a matrix, print a bracket and call it a day. Brace yourselves guys, this probably won't be good.

how to I unlike this? UGH. Can you image the top3 guys in the rankings on the same side of the bracket... there is a seeding committee right? or is that totally gone now?

Every year, some guys from the Big Ten get screwed because the patently weaker conferences have undefeated wrestlers who are given better seeds even though they are not as good and have not been challenged throughout the year. Expect some similar uncommon nonsense this year.
Like missouri lol. Those kids get rag dolled in the first two rounds lol

There is no "seeding committee", per se. The entire process, start to finish (including seeding) is managed by the NCAA Division I Wrestling Committee.

I want to be wrong. This actually could help Iowa a ton surprisingly (not that they need any) the formula would have Cass on the opposite side of Gable/Parris.

Wednesday can’t get here soon enough..No way Paris and Gable same side, just like no way NLee/Eirman/SeaBass same side.

In the meantime I have to put up with this BS talk
Get ready for some madness because all Nomad is doing is plugging the results into the seeding matrix. These aren't his opinions. He's just reporting the numbers that pop out.

The one remaining wildcard is the last coaches rankings, but that won't change some of these crazy ones because those guys are already as high as they can go in those rankings.

IF they stick to their own seeding rules, you can expect some insane results. Not enough data to make them work properly. The current rule is that they can manually flip a seed if it's within 3 points, but most of these aren't going to be. We'll see what they do.

All models are wrong. Some models are useful.
Good point.

All models are wrong. Some models are useful.
A professor once told a fellow student, "You consider yourself a model student, don't you? (He did.) Well, do you know what a model is? It's a small imitation of the real thing." Ouch. I don't think he's recovered, yet.

This formula could create some absolute nightmare seedlings this year if they don’t adjust it or overrule it. Not sure how you can use the formula they have with the season we had.

Nomad (using the formula) has Parris at the 5 behind Stencel, Schultz, and Gremmel. Absolute disaster if that happens. Knowing the way wrestling has worked though it’s probably going to happen.
Why would they overrule this when they didn’t overrule the EIWA allocations? Which, to me, is a far bigger deal.

Nomad is usually pretty close to getting this right. Not sure why people are slamming him.

FWIW, he basically nailed the seeds last year doing the same thing. Just have to hope they don't fully commit to the matrix.

I used to be a cfo of PE backed companies and let me tell you, one minor change in that discount rate or cost of capital model and anything became the smart business decision.

i like dunking on nomad as much as the next guy but his math wasn't wrong. i mean it's math. but there were several problems that lead to the distaste and therefore a volume of responses. 1) his certainty - you can't be certain b/c Coaches' Poll isn't even released before seeds 2) you have no idea what the committed will do AFTER the math. 3) his doucheyness.

all you can really do is approximate. which is why i don't go on some crazy deep dive trying nail them. it's utterly pointless.

ps - i got crookham at 132 at states and yianni winning 141 next weekend ;)

100% nailed it. Also let me add “his timing” and little “haha” approach. Literally after HWT finals, he’s on Twitter like a child with his “haha look Paris will be 5 seed, this is great.”

Felt bad for Paris that night. He got ragdolled by Gable in a match he thought he’d win and then gets to go to home and watch Nomad tell everyone because of his loss he’s the 5 seed.

Raw Daddy, I apologize that I still do not know who you are or if I personally met you. I wasn't sure if you were my son's age or older as you mentioned being friends with Kirk.

As to your post, you have cfo in small case, if I was a CFO of anything, even a lemonade stand, the work put in to get to that position, well I wouldn't be as humble as you.

Also, I thought you stated you are due your second shot in Erie on St. Patrick's day. Good luck! Ironically I'm also scheduled for the AM at St. Vincent's for my second. (Pgh was all filled up) Finally I'll come out of my basement hiding two weeks after that shot.

When I read this part of your post, it hit me again that my second shot is on April Fool's Day. I hope they weren't kidding when it was scheduled :).
