Really reminds me of how much I miss George,Joe and company.late seventies through mid eighties were golden times to be a fan.
We played in the Orange Bowl that year.
I dunno, but I remember how hot it was that day. Sweltering.Do the Refs still wear shorts on hot days? I cant remember.
I was there as well. Great memories.I was there. Splinters in my ass from their crappy bleachers.
We did not pass the eye test.By the way, in checking the 1985 schedule, I was reminded that five of our eleven regular season wins came by four points or less, seven by seven points or less. Just food for thought.
I remember the game but not the refs wearing shorts.Do the Refs still wear shorts on hot days? I cant remember.
yup you can see that here...Due to the heat, Joe didn't wear a tie. I remember it was a big deal to some people because it was supposedly the first time Joe didn't wear a tie during a game.
I dont know but...What did #4 do at the end? Joe was pretty upset with him.
People forget Maryland was supposed to be pretty good that year. I believe they were ranked like 6th. Sports Illustrated even had them ranked #1 if memory serves.
he was referring to the 2 year run that started with the MD game and ended at the Fiesta Bowl.We played in the Orange Bowl that year.
I recall that as well. You have to love watching their Wide Tackle 6! on D.People forget Maryland was supposed to be pretty good that year. I believe they were ranked like 6th. Sports Illustrated even had them ranked #1 if memory serves.

Exactly. The loss to Oklahoma was crushing but many fellos stayed a fifth year to have another shot.I believe

Try wearing the lion suit that day. I lasted until early 3rd quarter before the hallucinations started.I dunno, but I remember how hot it was that day. Sweltering.
Thanks for the video and memories ... I was at that 86 Maryland game which was two football seasons after I graduated. The cheerleader at the 27:33 mark was a little sister at my fraternity and my date for our Sweetheart formal. I saw her a few weeks after this game on the field in Tempe after Joe's second NC!I liked the following year's game. Looked like a sure loss until Pete Curkendall intercepted a pass and ran it back about 70 yards. I thought the game was finally in hand but Henning took MD right down the field and we held on by stopping a 2 pt conversion.
Curkendall INT is at 22:28
2 pt conversion is near the end
