2 true freshmen RBs over 1000 yards

Singleton 1336 all purpose yards (941 rushing, 85 receiving, 310 return) and 11 TDs

Allen 1010 all purpose yards (830 rushing, 172 receiving, 8 return) and 10 TDs.

Bonus: Carter 2nd in tackles (55), 1st in TFL (10.5), 1st in sacks (6.5), 1st in forced fumbles (2)
Better stats than Micah as a freshman.

You could argue Carter was better as a true freshman than Parsons in his final year. Carter already has equaled Parsons college career sack numbers.
Carter has to be a top 5 freshman "surprise story" in all FBS this season. He was a lower 4 star barely ranked in the top 30 at LB. Now, he seems to be the true playmaker on PSU's defense.

Anybody that watch him play in HS should not be surprised unless they were blind.

Parsons was really coming around the last half of his second year as he continued to learn the position, then he skipped his junior year. Carter is now where Parsons was at the end of his second year. Too bad we never got to see what Parsons could have done his junior year. Scary to think how good Carter will be in year three.

1. Parsons totally switched positions.
2. For some reason, maybe maturity, Parsons was handled with kid gloves and they started Farmer.
3. They didn’t use Parsons as a pass rusher until the end of the year if at all.
4. Had Parsons been used as an edge rusher and not had the covid opt out he would have gone down as the best Penn State defensive player of all time. I know what that means and truly believe it.

I love Carter and think he will be a great LB at PSU.

Singleton needs 140 rushing yards to hold all of the records by a Freshman RB - already broke Saquon's All-Purpose Yards by a Freshman and TDs by a RB.... needs 140 yards in the bowl game to hold Rushing Yards by a Freshman RB.

What is interesting about Micah Parsons is he stated Carter would be a better lb than he was before Carter played his first down at PSU.

Any idea why he wasn’t ranked higher? Usually when a guy way over performs early in their career it was a position switch or the kid didn’t camp or there were off field issues. I don’t think any of that applied to Abdul.

Because he didn't waste time going to endless and meaningless Rivals events. The kid is bright.

If I remember correctly, he didn’t camp much or interact with the recruiting guru’s much, and kept his thoughts within his family.

And…
5. Different D Coordinator. I would have loved to see what Parsons could have done under Diaz. I think Carter is a stud and will be a 1st rounder when he’s done in the blue and white, but Diaz’s aggressive style would have doubled Parson’s sack numbers.

Carter has fewer tackles, but more TFLs and sacks. This could be because Micah needed more time to learn the LB position. Carter likely also gets the benefit of playing in a more aggressive defense under Diaz. Either way, both are incredible athletes. Hopefully we get to enjoy having Carter for 3 seasons vs. only the 2 we got with Micah.
