2018 B1G Championship Session 2 Thread

Lee winning would have helped us. Lizak will have nothign for NaTo in the finals.

Thanks a lot Iowa.

Mitch McKee blew a 4-2 lead with riding time late in the third to let Pletcher back in. Pletcher got a quick TD in SV.

Team title slightly tougher now but can still happen, especially if Bo beats Myles again and Rasheed beats Moore.

Nick Lee v Michael Carr
Nick converts a single, E1.
Carr converts his own single at edge, followed by an E1.
Now Lee in deep still on edge of mat. Stalemate. :57 left in 1st.
Lee gets to an ankle, works around, Carr dives for Lee's leg and potentially dangerous. :20
Lee nearly in on another TD, but no. 3-3
Second period
Lee down. Up and out, 4-3.
Carr nice double, 5-4 Carr. :50 riding time. 1:05 remaining.
Lee having trouble getting out, Carr riding high, has riding time. 1:30 now, no movement underneath.
Third period
Carr takes bottom, 1:54 riding time, and up 5-4.
Carr another double, 8-4, Lee doesn't have much of a response. 1:15 remaining, riding time locked.
Lee out, camera zooms in and we're in art school. Weird.
Lee not much time left, both guys tied. It'll end 10-6 Carr.

141 Semis: #2 seed Nick Lee vs. #3 seed Michael Carr (Illini)

Per 1
Lee in on a single, drives thru, and gets the TD, 2-0. He cuts Carr, 2-1. Carr shoots in, gets a leg, elevates it, Lee bouncing, and Carr gets the TD, 2-3. Lee up and gets the esc, 3-3. Lee in on an ankle, working up the leg, near the edge, Carr with a whizzer, they scramble, and OOB with 57 sec left. Crazy. Lee shoots in, gets a leg, trying to reach across, another scramble, and a PD stoppage with 20 sec left. Lee shoots in again, tries to get behind, and the buzzer sounds. Close. RT is 0

Per 2
Lee takes bottom. Lee up and peels out, 4-3. Carr in with a double and gets the TD, 4-5. Lee tries to come out the back door, but nothing. Lee to his feet, and driven OOB with 1:05 left. RT goes over 1 min for Carr. Lee having trouble getting out. End. RT at 1:54 for Carr

Per 3
Carr takes bottom. Carr up and out, 4-6. Carr in on a single, to a double and gets the TD, 4-8. He throws in a boot. RT over 2 min and is locked. Lee grabs the head, and gets a reversal, 6-8. He cuts him, 6-9. Lee can't get a TD as Carr is avoiding. With RT, it's a 6-10 loss.

Damn

McKee. LET Pletcher back in....... Maybe a little better conditioning and will to win had something to do with it.

lees bottom game has let him down the most this season.

as for the team championship. tis what it tis. you get what you earn.

Nick has 10 days to work getting out from bottom but at this point AA looks to be still in reach but no easy task

Lee just doesn't have the athleticism to bring his C game and get away with it.

Heh, alright, I get that you're related and kudos to Luke, he's a great wrestler. But not every take that views the match from one wrestler's point of view is an insult to the other wrestler. McKee is known for gassing late.

149 Semis: Zain vs. Ke-Shawn Hayes (tOSU)

Per 1
Both guys shooting but nothing. Zain dives for an ankle, nothing. 1 min left. Stall warning on Hayes. Zain in on a nice double for the TD, 2-0. Zain nearly gets a tilt, and then Hayes nearly gets a reversal. They award 2 NF to Zain. 10 sec left. End.

Per 2
Zain takes bottom. He's up and out pretty quickly, 5-0. RT at 41 sec for ZPain. Zain shoots for the legs, Hayes sprawls, nothing. Hayes working a front headlock, stalemate, with 1:13 left. Hayes shoots, Zain with a nice counter for a TD, 7-0. End. RT @ 1:25 for Zain.

Per 3
Hayes takes neutral. Not a lot. Hayes reaching for a single, gets the lower leg, Zain grabs an ankle, and a PD call with 1:18 left. OOB with 1:07 left. Zain shoots low and drives in for a double leg for a TD, 9-0. RT is locked. OOB with 28 sec. End. With 2:10 of RT it's a 10-0 major!

Lee looked flat. I'll give Carr credit. I saw his match against Chad Red earlier this year and it was similar. Carr did what Red normally does and got to his legs first. Kind of like in boxing, an agressive fighter can be slowed by being first. Nick should never choose down again this season. He needs to do better from the bottom, but when given the choice, he should go neutral every time.

Nick is very good, but if a wrestler can neutralize his attacks and keep him from getting to the single leg, Nick can look ordinary at times. Fortunately that's not too often, but Nick needs to find a way in those situations to win a different way.
