2018 Recruiting Thread

Watch their game film and compare their offer lists. If there is one HS player in the country better than Micah Parsons I haven't seen it. The idea Anoma is that guy is ridiculous.

I normally don't get too caught up in rankings and stuff, but this blew me away, especially when he said he's only been playing two years. Maybe it's because he's 6'6" and 240....

The scary thing to me and I'm not sure how true it is...is that Micah has yet to really hit the weights hard...it's mostly natural. Someone can correct me if I'm wrong there and I apologize, but that is crazy scary if true as he simply pushes around 300 pound OT's like they are still 220 high school OT's.

Justin Fields would be the guy who is better, IMHO, but Parson's is no slouch....

yeah, an all-around athlete who has participated in basketball, track, and even wrestling when he was younger

from a basketball story (just prior to his ankle sprain and then dropping off the team)

Micah Parsons threw down a highlight dunk, Tony James scored 17 points, and Harrisburg knocked off Carlisle, 68-55, Wednesday....

Parsons, who signed with Penn State for football earlier Wednesday, finished with 13....And, with the game in hand, Parsons threw down his double-fisted, dunk with 4:41 left, bringing the Harrisburg fans to their feet.

he was a PJW (PA States) youth wrestling champ when he was younger
he actually said (prior to deciding to enroll early) that he may wrestle again his senior year ... but no sense in doing that for a month now

IMO, I really believe he sent in his LOI to PSU Friday 12/22 but both parties have kept it a secret.

And no one will out hustle our staff.

LAKE BUENA VISTA, Fla. -- A long, sometimes stressful recruitment will come to an end Thursday for four-star defensive end Jayson Oweh, who lists Ohio State and Penn State as his finalists.

Oweh, who is the No. 5 strong side defensive end in the industry-generated 247Sports Composite, will make his pick between the third and fourth quarters of the Under Armour All-America Game, and he is relieved to be finished with the process.

"(The hardest part) was probably finding out which school was going to be the most conducive environment for me as a person and player," said Oweh, who plays at Blairstown (N.J.) Blair Academy and named Penn State his leader days before the early signing period.

The 6-foot-5, 236-pound Oweh shut down his recruitment after the Dec. 20-22 signing period, but has not divulged his choice.

Meanwhile, his relationship with Nittany Lions defensive line coach Sean Spencer is also close and his final meeting with Penn State was key as coach James Franklin, defensive coordinator Brent Pry and Spencer each visited the school and then his home, which is 90 minutes away.

And one thing, more than anything else, stood out about the visit.

"Just the resiliency of them," Oweh said. "They came to my school and I was with Franklin and Spencer. They met the whole school, and they took pictures of everything. It was more family than business. We just didn't talk about football."

How many current commitments or signees does Ohio State have there? I think we finally have more than they do at this game. You have to think that our guys have been in the ears of Smith and Walker. It is nice for us to have such a large presence there, hope that becomes the norm.

That's what his plan was, apparently, sign early and wait until today to announce. Someone here, a good, reliable poster, said that he did not sign during the ESP, but I'm now starting to wonder about this again.

Oweh said he did not sign his LOI during the early signing period, so.....ya know. Could be a little white lie. Or not.

We had the story about the lady who heard Franklin say on a cell phone on the street that "We got him! He signed". We had Parsons saying on that day that we got one of Smith or Oweh. And Oweh had previously said he would send in his LOI during early signing day but not announce. Now we learned that he shut down his recruitment after the early signing day, which is what would have to happen if you sent in your LOI. So, everyone can make up their own mind.

I was going to say that all this will be moot come this evening, but without the signed LOI it's not going to be. Whatever. I'm just along for the ride.

I think they get too caught up on "upside". Parsons has been dominant for four years at one of the largest classifications in PA. Kid had 17.5 sacks as a freshman. Now he is dominating an All-American game. They over think things.

I would trade Micah Parsons and Oweh for Justin Fields.

DEFENSE. WINS. CHAMPIONSHIPS.

Seriously, I wouldn't make that deal. Parsons looks to have the ability to play multiple positions, possibly on offense and defense. Oweh also looks like a world-beater.

Fields may very well live up to his potential, though many quarterbacks do not do so. Regardless, we got Parsons over Tosu and hopefully will also land Oweh over Tosu. At least we didn't lose Fields to a b1g school.

I wonder when Fields sees the field at Georgia. The Bulldogs have a great quarterback in Fromm.

Clemson had the best d-line in the country, they lost to Bama because they didn’t have deshaun Watson.

There is only one ball so he is looking at sitting for 2 years, but they may give him a Steven's type package. Fromm being a true frosh playing for the MNC isn't going away.

Fromm's back-up (Eason?) is supposed to be as good too. I think Fields whiffed on his decision to play at Georgia IMO. Also, I get he's maybe not 100%, but not hearing a ton of hype about him from the UA game. He finished second to future Stanford QB Jack West in the skills competition.

He was in gym clothes so I'm not sure if he was/is healthy. FSU or UF would have been great fits if he wanted to stay south. PSU would have been ideal to be honest , but even there IF Tommy does stay he was looking at sitting 2 years.

Eason is going to transfer... he lost the job in favor of Fromm and now Fromm has a year of experience. There is no way that Eason would ever be able to overcome that and beat out Fromm and he has one less year available.

LOL. Sometimes one laughs out loud at the silliest things.

The swivel part? LOL. Used to say that to soldiers so they don't accidentally miss saluting a superior officer (who, especially if in the AG Corps, will be sure to let you know you missed saluting him!). Also good advice for being downrange in general....:).

Bama's D no slouch either though. And while Clemson may have the better D line, one could easily argue Bama has the better LBs and DBs.

Who would you rather have, Tom Brady or JJ Watt? There are a lot more DE's that can have an impact similar to Parsons than there are QB's who can have an impact similar to what I expect Fields to have.

Right... so let's talk more about it when Fields accomplishes 1% of what Brady has accomplished. And that won't be for a long time.....

This year's pitt starting QB, Brown, was a H.S. 5-star QB as well....
