Why did the ref stop counting back? looked like should have been 4NF
Most of us aren't going to stop watching to type either... especially during that match.

That's a bummer. Honestly, I hate to see any kid lose their dream due to injury. The special that aired about him and his deceased brother-in-law totally changed my impression of the kid. He's a good kid. I hope he heals quickly and that it's not career ending.
And now Abas loses the danger points to Murin. This tournament has been laughable officiating wise with regards to Iowa. Never seen anything like it, even back when they were really Iowa.
That was the biggest Iowa job I've seen. It wasn't even close to a fall.

Some guys probably got used to it because of Covid ... even though of course it doesn't make rational sense after grappling closely with someone for 7 minutes.
It might be more of a habitual (re)action because the ref also doesn't now typically raise or shake a hand.

Hildebrandt has been a career 125, so probably not as much as you think
Good grief, you really are clueless.
First, there were only 2 cautions issued against the VT wrestler, not 3.
Second, there are A LOT of reasons why a ref would stop things without issuing a caution on a restart. A whistle from another mat (which frequently occurs in tournaments) is one reason. Not having invited the top wrestler on is another. The ref realizing they said something that was wrong is another, the ref blowing their whistle but no moving their hands is another, moving their hands but no blowing their whistle is yet another. Etc., etc.
The ref was a few feet from the wrestlers, and talked to both of them after the stoppage. You usually do that when you're explaining something, but that what you didn't like, or why you're not issuing a caution.
Things are not always so black and white, no matter how much you claim they are.

It is the Iowa wrestler rule. It used to be very prevalent, but has been relatively missing in recent years. It has been applied heavily this weekend.

For all of the times Refs do not aggressively call stalling, the Ref in Nick v Seabass called it correctly. Hit him with it quickly. Well officiated.

We must have been watching different matches. Nick didn't look tired at all to me and he made a terrific athletic move to win the match going away.
