2022 Recruiting Class Thread

A couple of CBs for Ryan Brubaker to USC south. With that and Shelton seemingly wavering, the recent offers at OT make sense. If I were a betting man, JB Nelson will be our next commit at that position.

I'm puzzled at the loss of o-line prospects recently. I though the addition of coach Traut would be a major factor in inticing more and better line talent to PSU yet it seems we continue the trend of in state & recruiting focus region losses of line prospects. I don't know the reason/s but I do know a very good is essential to success on offense. Recognizing there is time to recruit and the group who is being courted beyond those discussed here, do we project a successful o-line class this year and the next few cycles?

I'm puzzled on which prospects you are referring to by the statement "at the loss of o-line prospects recently"....

Which OL prospects that PSU is or was actively going after have actually committed elsewhere or signed elsewhere?

Shelton - Still committed to PSU
Brubaker - uncommitted
Wagner - uncommitted
Givens - uncommitted
McNeil -Committed to PSU
Royce - uncommitted
JB Nelson - uncommitted

Only Jacob Allen seems to be an OL prospect that the staff was actively recruiting and that had been on campus to be far enough along within the PSU recruiting process and coaches to be considered an actual "loss"..........

Expecting PSU to just pick the players they want and have them commit is unrealistic. Some of the OL prospects that PSU is recruiting are also being recruited hard by programs that have been to the playoff, and talented OL prospects have lots of options. But most here believe that Trautwein will put together a talented 2022 OL class when the ink is dry.........

And YOU or anyone else here does not even know which OL players that Trautwein and Franklin would even take commitments from at this point in the cycle.

Best to just chill.....

Many posters on here take speculation to mean factual event scheduled to happen.

Wagner and Givens are very, very likely to go elsewhere.

Will be interesting to see what other prospects we get in on.

Not saying it isn't true, but isn't this case with every recruit who is looking to commit at another school? Either that or they are getting paid.

Normally, perhaps so.

This year, coming off a year and a half with no camps, minimal HS footage, et Al, it's very possible that in person camps could carry a lot of sway at this junction. Highly sought after kids a year ago might not be now. Vice versa, underrated kids blowing up with eventual exposure.

It seems like they felt like they needed to offer Brubaker before they were fully comfortable doing so, they saw him work out on his official last weekend, and their initial suspicions were confirmed. It's an unfortunate part of the freeze last year - had they been able to get him on campus to camp last summer, they probably would have come to this conclusion a year ago.

Ultimately, I suspect that they worked him out and determined that he probably isn't going to be a tackle for us, and they have other guys they like a lot more (including Nelson) on the interior.

This cycle is going to see flips/processing like crazy. Not only have these kids not seen campuses, coaching staffs haven’t been able to evaluate in-person. It’s going to be a wild recruiting cycle.

Yes. Unfortunately, for those fans who think kids shouldn’t visit if their already committed to a school, it’s going to be a long, rough ride until signing day.
