Oh yeah. They are not in their usual high spirits.
1 Starocci vs 8 O’Reilly

They trade early reach shots. Carter in on a single. Finishes. 2-0 after 1:10ish. Riding. OOB. 1:15 to go. 36 secs RT. Escape. 2-1. Trading shots. Bailee came to wrestle. Carter in on a single but hard Whizzer from Bailee. Near edge of mat. Carter finishes just before clock expires. 4-1 after one.
Carter on bottom. Out in 19 secs. 5-1. Not much action after escape. 5-1 after two.
Bailee on bottom. To his feet. Standing sit out. To his feet. Standing switch earns an escape. 5-2 now. 1:35 to go. Carter seems content to just win. 5-2 is the final. On to the semifinals!

While I enjoy a HR meltdown as much as the next guy, I think for right now I don't need to expose my brain cells to their collective "stupid I am" circle jerk.
Went back and watched. Obvious bias aside it looks like Levi bridges pretty damn quickly.
Must be cool to have never been publicly wrong about anything.
Foca is dangerous, man. Every bit the threat that Mekhi is and maybe more so right now.
In case anybody needed a good example, O'Reilly continuously pulling himself and Carter off the mat there at the end of the first period is a text book edge stall call that the dimwits don't call.
Foca is a tough out, but Storocci tougher.
I called a kid (we're talking fairly low-pressure youth wrestling) for stalling for something like that once. Oh how the coach whined and whined.
Lewis beats Brands. Penn State pulling away.
All college wrestlers are tough dudes. Lewis is out there with a finger flopping around out of place. "I'll get through it". Man I love this stuff.
I was thinking about taking a break from PBP but decided I’m much to superstitious to stop during this round.

one of the best things about a guy like Brooks is he's about to wrestle a 2x AA and we're all saying, correctly, "no big deal, this should be bonus points"

Ah hell. Just like any other Penn State year. HR dreams of the fantasies necessary for them to sneak past Penn State, without being self aware enough to understand they are competing for third. It is like watch Lucy hold the ball for Charlie Brown to kick.

Apparently it has been deemed AOK for Romero to wrestle Brook from a different mat.
AB should just stand in the center as Romero backpeddles to the edge

Romero all hands to the head. Brooks tries to work a couple front headlock. Brooks clearly the aggressor. Romero gets in on a low single. Stalemated. Nervous when the shot happened, but got nowhere with it. 0-0 after one.
Brooks quick escape. Brooks in on a single but OOB. They have to call stalling at some point. Hard to finish TDs when your opponent is always at edge of circle. Hand to Brooks face flagrantly and no call. More of the same. Brooks aggressive and they go OOB. Brooks gets a finish at edge of mat since that’s where all the wrestling is happening. 3-0 after two.
Romero chooses bottom. Granby escape. 3-1. And guess what? They’re at the edge with Romero’s back at OOB. A stall call down 3-1 gives Brooks a point. I must have missed an earlier call. Brooks close to a TD but - get this - Romero goes OOB. 4-1 final. On to semifinals!

Why not just DQ Romero at the beginning and be done with it. He has no interest in actually wrestling.
Went to Ireland once in the early 80s. They don’t make much out of St Patty’s Day at all.
Is there a reason ESPN constantly leaves coverage of Penn State wrestlers?
