2024 Olympic Trials match and discussion thread

I'll never forget the one he hit at the Scuffle he hit against Preisch, total beast move.
I’ll never forget that one either! A lot of guys can hit moves like that on lower level competition but Mark was so technically accurate he could hit that on a high level guy.

I don't hate it but IMO it would be not as good as the current system.

Criteria is not about the outcome -- it's about the process. After the first point of the match, somebody is winning at all times, and therefore there is no incentive for both guys to mail it in in the 2nd period.

We've seen plenty of matches at B10s, NCAAs, and states where both guys shut down in the last 30-60 minutes of regulation. This system prevents that.

The other issues are: (1) if no scoring in OT, then we just use regulation criteria anyway; (2) It de-emphasizes conditioning -- a gassed wrestler could extend a tie into OT, get a massive break, and then get a quick winning score off the OT whistle.
Or overtime until it's over, it would be like the Nfl having rule with a td with most yards wins on a tie. It's just un-American.

Maybe he applies for the Columbia job , they’d be lucky replace Tanelli with hall
I think he'd benefit from at least one more year at Penn. He'll no longer have to split his time with training, and his responsibilities will increase with Reina retiring.

This would include more time with big-hitter donors. He'd be great at that aspect of leading a program.

I still can't get over the crybabies who are saying that no more big events should be at BJC because somebody booed Burroughs. It makes me wonder if these people have ever watched sports or ever been to a live event.
No, you don’t seem to understand. At no point in the history of competitive athletics has any superstar ever been booed before. Never have Tom Brady, Sidney Crosby, or LeBron James suffered this type of indignity. Last night at BJC was the first ever recorded incident of booing an athlete.
