That's a nice get for them. Now just lock up the Raney twins and they'll have a team to contend with in a couple years. Plus, Bo to PSU, Jax to Ok St, and Bubkis to TnT. LOL.
We were not among his finalists, and just as well since he intends to play football. Plus he's gonna get pulverized in Bielema's smashmouth offense.
Can’t stand this two sport trend. I know it’s been around for decades but it’s too difficult to achieve your ultimate goals in todays game. Glad he picked Illinois, hope he drops football.
Nice get. Tough kid but hasn’t quite developed like most thought he would and that’s most likely because he is splitting time with football. Incredible athlete. He has NCAA champion level talent but I really doubt he gets there if he continues doing both sports
I hope the Raney twins end up there as well. We don’t have room for them unfortunately so I’d be happy with anyone besides Iowa and both OSU’s. Illinois would be a great fit. Running out the twins and Kannon Webster in a row would be tough
Yeah, well, we've seen more than one football recruit make the same mistake for PSU.
Anyway, this is a very good get for DT. though maybe a bit less so if Ross plans to both wrestle and play football. Is that still what Ross plans to do?
Huge get and a big blow to Iowa. Not keeping him home in Iowa is a big deal
And would explain desperation for Bassett. They're at real risk of landing none of the very top 2026 guys after Cael cleaned up both 2024 and 2025.
Then it’s official? The playing field has been leveled?
Someone on this board posted an interview with Michael after one of his matches. He dropped the F bomb a couple times during it. I thought if he comes here, Cael will fix that. I had hoped he came here but wish him the best in the cave with the Doublemint twins.

I'm glad he didn't come to PSU. I wasn't aware of him dropping the F bomb a couple of times in an interview, but did see some of his antics after winning a match and was not impressed with his character. He's not PSU material IMO. We don't need an attitude reclamation project.
Was it the one where he was dancing? I cringe every time I see it. Lol
What did he do that was worse than some of the stuff Carter has done?
I believe that was Michael’s younger brother Peter you’re thinking of, he danced after his state championship win.
Can you link the antics displayed? I haven’t seen anything from Michael that leads me to believe he has an attitude problem. Michael swearing in an interview is really not a big deal.
And yet PSU was reportedly recruiting Mocco, so apparently the PSU staff felt differently about his attitude.
Overall, not a fan of the "not PSU material" statements, particularly right after a kid commits elsewhere.
Q: Did we really need a 285 in the class of 26? With the 30 scholarship limit doesn't seem like a huge priority. No sour grapes, just asking.
It's the PSU fan equivalent of Tan Tom saying "Not how we would have handled it."
Need? No.
But could still use some HWT depth. Our only HWTs are Cole Mirasola and Dawson Bundy.
I wouldn't be surprised if we landed a 2026 HWT for that reason. Doesn't mean it'll happen -- and if it does, it will likely be a depth candidate. (Only 1 likely D1 power school starter remains -- Coby Merrill -- and I don't think we're recruiting him.)

Flo just put out the updated big board rankings for the 2026 class and Jayden James moved up to #3 ahead of Ross. Bassett is 1 and Jax 2
tough to get them all. Cael has a very high hit rate, but the 30 limit will make it slightly more complicated. Sucks for walkons wanting to make the roster.

Isn’t the crux of this that there isn’t anything close to a “generational” 285 in several classes in a row, so if you don’t get one of the couple that have the best upside it’s not worth overpaying on the rest?
That's a big part of it. The other parts are:
You want 3 guys per weight. 125 and HWT are the hardest to fill. There's a lot more flexibility for guys to move around the rest of the weights.
And you want at least 1 backup to be NQ capable if the starter gets hurt.
Luckily we should be far enough ahead of the field, and have elite NLWC training partners, that we can be judicious, at least thru 2027.
