Disagree. 2-0 matches happen very rarely. NE-IA had 3 of them and they were all exciting bouts as the dual was on the line. That would seem to disprove your statistical theory.I didn't watch the Montoya / Clark match, and only listen to Foley for entertainment, but here's one man's opinion...
A 2-0 match can be entertaining, but the AVERAGE 2-0 match is not. In statistical terms, one would have to go out to 3 standard deviations to find an entertaining 2-0 match.
You should have been there. Montoya had Clark on the ropes all match, but could not finish his leg attacks. Great attitude by Montoya including a "wait until next time" during the handshake. The fallacy that has been propagated (mostly by Foley) is that higher scores mean more excitement for the fans. Excitement in wrestling has nothing to do with how high the score may be, especially when it is sloppy wrestling or inflated scoring rules (4 nearfall instead of 3) causing the scoring. A NBA all-star game is high-scoring. That doesn't make it exciting to watch.
