Carter Starocci, Penn State
The Nittany Lions are always theteam to watch, so a list of freshman to watch would be incomplete without a member of the perennial powerhouse program in Happy Valley. Starocci comes to the Penn State wrestling room with a long list of accolades that include two Pennsylvania state championships, Fargo titles and two junior world championship appearances. He is projecting at 174 pounds, which means he's likely to take a redshirt year if Mark Hall chooses to forgo his redshirt and wrestle for another individual title this year. If Hall opts to redshirt, then Starocci could be an option for head coach Cael Sanderson at this weight. Starocci headlines Penn State's 2019 recruiting class, and he'll be a name to watch in the coming years as works to add his name to a long list of Pennsylvania natives who have found success under Sanderson and company.

From watching him in person, I think his upside is tremendous. He'd be well-served by a redshirt year, though, imo.

Article was worth reading just for the pic of Aragona. It looks like Dake -- if Dake went to the Glamour Shots booth at the mall.

Anyone know if Ryan Anderson at ISU for sure? I recall reading some posts that he may not qualify

Perhaps this should have been 13 Freshmen to watch and should have included these additional 4:

Beard
Brooks
Joe Lee
Seth Nevills

:)

He goes from winning his first state title as a senior to a possible freshman champ? Color me extremely skeptical.

Plus he's going to a program where the only two undefeated four-time NJ state champs have won as many titles combined in six seasons as Spencer Lee has in two seasons.

To be fair, all four most likely won't wrestle in the lineup this season, along with Carter. But that didn't stop them with a lot of other guys on the list.

I think all of the kids on the list are HS Class of 2019, which would exclude the additional 4 and plenty of other RS Fr like Sasso, Teemer, Carr, etc.

He’s a one time state champ that beat a 4x state champ at beat the street
