A&M regent throws Sumlin under the bus. Then backs up over the body.

Always amazes me when people can't wait one day to let the emotion subside to make logical decisions. And this person is probably in a position of authority.

Seems pretty clear to me that the standards for being a trustee of a major state-related university are really really easy to meet.

May all be true, but pretty classless to do via social media.
Sadly, today social media is becoming a substitute for real communication. It's easy to post something and walk away thus avoiding the need to actually defend what you say like a person would need to do in a real face-to-face conversation. Social media is perfect for internet tough guys.

My takeaway from his post is perhaps he should have said "one word" when Sumlin and his agent negotiated a new contract.

Perhaps he should have said "one word" when Sumlin mishandled player controversies.

The only time he says a word is when he loses a game due to coaching? His priorities seem to be misaligned.

Know this guy pretty well and this is what happens when you elect a trustee based on their ability to donate and raise $, not on their ability to lead. He's always been a loose cannon and there will be more of this from him and others in this new wave of "trustee leadership".

How did Pearland/Sugar Land area make out with the floods?

What a classless move for the B O R member to post this on social media. I understand his frustration but this was absolutely inapproriate.

I love how the coaches are always the ones who get the blame in these situations. So that was Sumlin who missed the INT that went thru his hands for a TD, That was Sumlin who couldn't get pressure on Rosen in the 4th, that was Sumlin who dropped a ball on 3rd down up 6?

Sumlin coached well, had his team prepared, his team just panicked and lost.

TAMU's Board of Regents is made up of 9 voting members, and 1 non-voting student member. All 10 regents are appointed by the governor of Texas, and then confirmed by the Texas Senate. Their terms are staggered so that 3 rotate off the board each odd numbered year, except for the student member who serves for 1 year.

Should be all on the coach ball. He's responsible for recruiting and building the roster. Make sure you recruit players that can develop, make plays, play as a team, and do not get in trouble.

In college football the coach takes that blame for everything.

This game could be used as an example the next time someone complains that a team is running the score up on another team. A&M was up 34 with a little more than a quarter left. Things can change pretty quickly in college football. Got to keep your foot on the pedal (assuming there isn't a huge mismatch in talent).

Mr. Buzbee was appointed to the Board of Regents by Governor Rick Perry in 2013. He serves as a member of the Committee on Audit and the Committee on Buildings and Physical Plant. He has served as Chair of the Committee on Audit, as a member of the Committee on Finance and the Committee on Academic and Student Affairs. He also served as a liaison to The Association of Former Students and the Texas A&M Corps of Cadets and A&M System Military Training Programs. His term expires February 1, 2019.

Buzbee is also the attorney who successfully represented Perry in his abuse of power case.

Buzbee also had a DWI dismissed under unusual circumstances.

He sounds pretty well-connected in Texas.

I will say that all Sumlin had to do was snap the ball with 5 seconds left on the play clock the last 3 possessions and they win - I know that's not how their offense runs but he could have made that adjustment and they win.

I'm not sure how you can say this when it works so well for the most powerful man in the world.
