Aaron is competing in the MPSSAA 4A/3A State Wrestling Championships at 182 lbs. It appears that like the PIAA Championships, the brackets are not seeded, but are set by how the competitors placed at Regionals.

The MPSSAA States were supposed to take place on Friday (3/2) and Saturday (3/3). Due to the nor'easter that is roaring up the East Coast, a number of high schools in Maryland closed on Friday, so the Championships have been moved to Saturday (3/3) and Monday (3/5).

in R1, Aaron will face Terrance Scales

Saturday and Monday! I'm not sure I've ever heard of a wrestling tournament having a day off in the middle of the tournament. Probably not the easiest thing for some folks pulling weight.

it is unusual.

basically, all of the wrestling except the consolations finals (3/4 match, 5/6 match) and the championship finals are being conducted on Saturday. (It's a long day, with preliminary rounds at 9:30 am, and the consolation semis at 8:30 pm.) The MPSSAA is allowing a +1 lb weight allowance from 3/3 for the 3/5 competitors, and is also allowing a +1 lb weight allowance on 3/3 (I'm assuming due to many schools being closed on Friday).

There is a Cheerleading Competition at the Horseshow Arena so most of the Championship will be tomorrow. Finals and place matches will be Monday. Aaron wrestled a Terrance Scales from Arundel tomorrow.

Wrestled Friday night, blizzard came in and tournament got postponed until Monday or Tuesday (cant recall exactly)

Interesting! I trust you came back with a vengeance on Mon/Tues!

LOL, JB just said again that OSU is undefeated, I guess Campbell has defected. Maybe he is like the Russians at the Olympics, competing under the Big Ten flag.

How did this get in this thread? Weird....

I assume he is an overwhelming favorite to repeat?

My mind always goes back to Jimmy Carr/Larry Kepp and last year's PIAA Vision Quest finale. You just never know.

for sure. that's why they contest them. It's not hard to come up with a gameplan to try to defeat an elite wrestler. (Nolf excluded -- I have no idea how anyone would gameplan for him.) Whether you can execute it or not, that is the question.

- in R3 (semis), he pinned Ryan Jones, at 1:15
- in R4 (finals), he'll face Gabe McAndrew

The finals are on Monday evening. I think that Brooks defeated Gabe McAndrew in the Regional semis or finals last weekend.

Four bouts at States, 1 pin under 30 sec, 2 pins under 1 min, and 1 pin in under 1:30. Or put another way, four bouts that collectively lasted 2 min 53 sec.
