Hey, Does anyone know what Pico is doing or is planning to do with the rest of his life? Is he going to wrestle again? Does he still have an MMA career?

And can he do better than Ben Askren just did if he returns to wrestling?

Pyles got so mad that Pico was interested in competing for Mexico. "You're an American! Compete for America!"

See jschrantz post above. If he wants to wrestle internationally again, it sure won't be for USofA. No use getting all in a lather about it.

Pico is going to have a hard time making 65kg with a same day weight-in. Highly doubt he could beat the top guys and make Team USA, especially without competing for a while, so it doesn't surprise me he may end wrestling for another country. The sad thing is he is more interested in the hype of wrestling in the Olympics than being active in the sport as a competitor.

Imagine being good enough to be there without being an active participant. Woof.

He hasn’t wrestled a competitive match in what 3-5 years, I wish people would just let that annoying Pico problem out to pasture honestly.
That's why it's interesting. Nobody should be able to come back from the rust, but Pico is so special that ... maybe he can?

I am fascinated by Pico. It's amazing to think that if Pico had wrestled NCAA, and Zain kept being in his weight class (which I don't know whether that would've happened), we might never have appreciated how good Zain is. Pico might've been Zain's Zahid.

You are making a flawed analysis that freestyle results equal hypothetical folkstyle results. Different rules, different weight-in days back then and remember Pico was fully focused on freestyle while Zain was taking college classes and spending more time with folk. There is no doubt in my mind Zain would of beat Pico in folkstyle, he would of dominated on the mat.

Pico's only recent claim to fame in wrestling is making the Olympic Trails Finals, a nice accomplishment, however he had a very favorable draw with most of the top contenders on the other side. Reece Humphrey, a non NCAA champ that doesn't come close to matching Zain's college accomplishments previously dominated Pico, but was injured and could barley walk in their semi match. Also, keep in mind, USA did not medal at this weight.

Ultimately, Pico has been more hype than anything, especially compared to what some of the other U.S. young guys accomplished on the international stage during that time period. Furthermore, look at his MMA results, he was supposed to be the second coming there also, but so far, not so good.

As for next year, there is no way he just starts competing again and contends for a U.S. spot on the team. He simply wasn't as good as people make him out to be when he was dedicated full time so to think now he can just step in, kick the rust off and be #1 in the U.S. isn't based in reality. His camp probably knows it, that's why they are already eying Mexico, traditionally a very weak wrestling country.

Askren isn't as special as Pico? Unlike Pico, he already is an Olympian.
