Im interested in hearing from any “silver bugs” out there who have advice on purchasing physical silver. I’m aware of the ETFs like SLV and PSLV. My question is where should and individual purchase 10 and 100 oz bars. The fees from some of these companies seem quite high.

Much of the price depends on what you are buying. Government issued coins carry a premium but also the buyback has a premium. Even bars sell/buy have premiums for brand names. I buy from APMEX and try to stick to larger sized bars with brand names as the price per ounce is better.

If you have a REPUTABLE coin dealer in your area, that is also a good option. If they get high inventory sometimes you can get better deals.

The first 100oz bars I bought were sold by a dealer that started calling me after getting my name from a list of convention attendees. Found that online dealers offered much lower fees. Also purchased Candian Maple Leafs instead of American Eagles before because the cost/coin was slightly lower. Gotta be careful with the online guys.....one went bankrupt after cashing my check, but fortunately it was a relatively small purchase and so many others lost so much more. I have 10oz bars too, which I think are pretty cool.....might give them away as Christmas gifts to the little ones when I get older.....if I don't need them first.

I’ve been buying 10oz bars for a while, but the costs over spot are now approaching $6 per oz. Some dealers are taking orders for several weeks out.
