Alex Facundo - Commits

It is funny. This grip character is an idiot to say the least. You could dress a monkey in an Iowa singlet and he would swear the monkey is the next national champion. What a moron. Good thing I can't respond to any posts over there wouldn't want to make grip cry again and run to the mods. Lmfao
Does HR think the monkey makes a better head coach or asst coach/head of the RTC?

Maybe we could have our first non human athletic director. Does the transfer portal make mention of the San Diego zoo loosing any disgruntled monkeys? I would have like to have seen Alex come to ISU, but at least he went to the other good guys instead of meatchicken.

Our buddy and HR gem DonHawkeye also weighed in regarding Facundo. That dude is one of my all-time favorites on HR and always worth a read.

Anyway, clearly this was another case where PSU's large stash of burner phones from Radio Shack paid big dividends.:oops:
Wasn't Don the one thats been saying the past few years that the words out that Cael is a prick and doesn't care about his wrestlers? Saying the kids are on to him and that PSU would no longer be able to bring in recruits. If it was him, I think its safe to say Don was wrong on another one.

He was never going to Michigan. But they do an amazing job recruiting nationally and return a ton next year. They'll be fine.

Richie Figs HAS TO BE Tom Ryan’s absolute top priority at this point....Ohio State looked to have a little momentum with him there for awhile, but seemingly has cooled down as of late.

Kid is an absolute talent without question... but just the simple fact he’s still wrestling 113 as a junior with what we are seeing wi Malik Heinselman now trying to grow into the weight is enough to make anyone pause I’m sure.
Thats a good point and I'll add Kurt McHenry to that category. Richie Figs has a height advantage even now over Kurt (I assume). I seldom hear any news of McHenry @ UM...wonder why? I'd be curious to hear if anyone knows his status as a RS Freshman.

People have skills. The Lord doesn't put us here without skills. Don is wrong, a lot. Almost always. It is his skill.

Davey Jones is a career 125.......….not sure he can get out from bottom anymore though :)......:(
Just spoke to someone on the inside of the program whom I trust who said not only is he getting out from bottom but he's beating Nico in the room!

I don't care for the line that he wants to go out and embarrass the kid ( his opponent). I would never instruct my kids to do that without cause.
Didn’t SVN say (and Nico mime) that he wants to go out and break a kid (his opponent)?

Who is the favorite to land Figs?
Nobody really knows who the favorite is, but he's down to Arizona State, Michigan, Ohio State, and Penn State. He has taken officials to the first 3, but wasn't able to squeeze in PSU before his season started, and since then officials haven't been allowed.

FWIW, I'm cautiously optimistic about PSU's chances:
- Figs has yet to re-commit to ASU or commit to Michigan or anOSU.
- At Michigan he'd have near-complete overlap with Kurt McHenry -- one of them would have to go 133, and neither seems likely.
- Same with Ohio State -- Tan Tom recently landed Andre Gonzales (#1 nationally at 113, also 2021). Gonzales is too good to sit but doesn't prevent landing Figs -- an interesting pickup if Ryan felt good about Figs.
- PSU has the best training partners: Gilman, Howard, RBY, Bartlett, etc.
- Cael.

One big hitch: the recruiting dead period has been extended until Jan 1 -- he can't take an official until well after NLI Week in November. He could take an unofficial -- at his own expense, and getting there from Los Angeles isn't like Van Ness driving on I-80. Would he sign with PSU without visiting? Would he really wait until March/April to sign somewhere?
