After the program was GUTTED by the departure of the previous coach... and the MASS EXODUS into the Transfer portal that followed.... Penn State basketball, with essentially only Jameel Brown and Demitrius Lilley remaining, was in a dire state... and its future was in question. Yes, we all had hope that Coach Rhodes could rally interest from some of the VCU players, and the Transfer portal... BUT... WHO KNEW for sure ? Then, slowly... PSU BBall began to show signs of life.
With the addition of Adrian Baldwin, Nick Kerns and Zack Hicks... we had a foundation... THEN with Kanye Clarey and Even Mahaffey coming back, and Puff Johnson, Qdus Wahab jumping on board from the portal... we had a PULSE. NOW with Leo O'Boyle picking Penn State from the portal... I THINK the beginnings of a team that MIGHT be able to compete next year is taking shape... There is currently a viable 2 deep at all positions that, barring injury, might be able to be competitive.
However, I honestly THINK that we will need AT LEAST another 3-4 players, on a par with what we currently have... to REALLY compete, DEEP into a B10 season, and be successful... BUT, with that said... WE ARE CLOSE !!
