My heart goes out to all the wrestlers at the National Tournament. The blood, the sweat, even the tears for those that didn't fulfill their dreams, just to provide us fans with a spectacular 3 days of wrestling. These young men put their heart and soul into their trade, and overall it's the best wrestling display of the year.

If you like good college wrestling, the NCAA Championship is the crown jewel of the sport. Regardless of team, first and foremost, I enjoy and appreciate good wrestling. So this is my unconditional, no-strings-attached, appreciation of each and every kid that laced up a wrestling shoe this past weekend.

I agree...but does this mean we are not allowed to celebrate the end of the Heil/Tsirtis era?

Funny you should mention that. I clearly remember during the year Heil won his 2nd championship........a match where Coach Smith was imploring him to let him up and get another takedown to get the major....and Heil ignored him. Shortly after some reporter asked Heil about bonus points and Heil said that he was only interested in winning and didn't care about bonus points. He went on to be the only national champ to not score a single bonus point. This year I clearly remember a match (Iowa?) where again.....Coach Smith was imploring Heil to get bonus points.....to no avail. When Heil walked off the mat......Coach Smith stood there with his arms crossed and didn't even acknowledge Heil as he walked by. I think it is safe to assume that Coach won't be too sorry to see him graduate.
