how cool would it be if your HS produced this much talent....
Not to knock it (and certainly no Bo) but Allen Athletics draws families of elite kids from all over. Have you seen their stadium?
I’m not aware of any other “major” (talent rich) programs there—but the Ferrari’s were there too, might be again.I get football. Texas high school football is taken seriously.
But wrestling? Does Texas have other high schools with wrestling programs?
For a number of years Bishop Lynch was THE wrestling mecca in Texas attracting talented kids from other states.I get football. Texas high school football is taken seriously.

That is where Kenny Monday was coaching, might explain why that was, and why they went downhill. For a number of years Bishop Lynch was THE wrestling mecca in Texas attracting talented kids from other states.
Also North Dallas: Mueller went to Trinity Christian Academy.there was another NCAA finalist from Texas this season, from a prep school but still, there is definitely some talent in that state. Texas could be a major player in coming years in terms of producing qualifiers and AAs.
was Kendall Cross coaching there as well? That is where Kenny Monday was coaching, might explain why that was, and why they went downhill.
He was with Dallas Dynamite (youth club) for a while. Don't know if he helped at Bishop or not.was Kendall Cross coaching there as well?
Yes Cross was therewas Kendall Cross coaching there as well?

The stadium set unusable for about 4 years. But that is amazing that they have elite kids in all sports there. Allen wrestles in this area a lot. From what I have seen, not only good, but good kids.
Well at least Rutgers wrestling has been top 10 in the nation for years and years …HaHa.... Fake news... The Stadium was unusable for one season
Isn't that Beavis and Butthead's High School?Edit: Nick Reenan went to Highland Park, another Dallas/FW suburb.
Who holds that distinction now? I know at one time Allen was tops, but I’m sure it’s an arms race.BTW, as impressive as Allen’s football stadium is it’s not the biggest or most expensive HS stadium in Texas.
sorry, thought it was longer than that. Know it was done in 2012, and open in 2016. Guess it was open for a couple of years before closing for repairs.HaHa.... Fake news... The Stadium was unusable for one season
Jerry Jones.Who holds that distinction now? I know at one time Allen was tops, but I’m sure it’s an arms race.
Allen's was only 60M, I think McKinney's was 70M. And it cracked too.
but if you add in the 10M that was paid to repair Allen, about even

No that’s highland. However, the other mike judge show (koth) took place in Arlen Texas, and the feeder school was Tom Landry middle school.Isn't that Beavis and Butthead's High School?
There you go. Fixed.Well at least Rutgers wrestling has been top 10 in the nation for year and year …
That would be good but I doubt it. Dallas papers is nothing but football, basketball and some baseball/ hockey mixed in. The majority resident still think the word ‘studio’ prefaces wrestling. Hopefully this does create a grass root increase!!Well done by Bo at the PSWC Social after the NCAA finals Saturday night...he joked about Texas wrestling being on the map, and something about being on par with Pennsylvania wrestling.
Tongue-in-cheek, and drew laughter...but I suspect his college career will draw many, many Texas kids to wrestling. He has had, and will continue to have an impact on youth.
Cup-half-full thinking says there's a chance. According to NFHS data, Texas has 344 high schools with wrestling, and 10,735 kids participating. Compare this to their 11-player football stats, 1217 schools, and 164,664 kids. The wrestling community there isn't tiny, I'm guessing most of them have heard of Bo, regardless of what's in the Dallas paper. Hopeful, that's all, even if the growth is slow. That would be good but I doubt it. Dallas papers is nothing but football, basketball and some baseball/ hockey mixed in. yep, my half-full view was 'hopefully'. I often wonder how much difference more local reporting would have. For example, the hometown papers usually have full HS basketball coverage - all schools, while wrestling is covered but simply not as much. I know some areas this isn't true - I am originally from central Pa. Getting the Richmond Times Dispatch - well the coverage has actually decreased... but then again hard copy papers have as well...Cup-half-full thinking says there's a chance. Agree. Still wake up early, and go outside to retrieve my paper (a shell of its former self, btw). Funny that your post (sharing news through the internet) is an example of why print media is in decline. I guess it's Al Gore's fault .One of the worst trends in our society.
At least you can go out and pick it up. Both major Oklahoma papers quit home delivery in my hometown-I guess the paperboys (and girls) got too expensive. But for the same price, I can read the on-line addition or I could if my wife would let me put a computer on the table during breakfast.Agree. Me too but I train my dog to retrieve it! What man's best friend will do for a biscuit!Agree. Still wake up early, and go outside to retrieve my paper (a shell of its former self, btw). Indeed, irony abounds. The main problem is, people used to be willing to subsidize local news and investigative deep dives to get their coupons, Dick Tracey and the box scores. Now entertainment and shopping is available from any number of outlets that don’t have that financial burden.Agree.
