Also, the Elephant in the Room Thing....How in the Hell Was JG Not

prepared for this tourney? The JG experiment is coming to an end.......more than ready for Nick Lee to assume the role.
who knows? He lost to two wrestlers he has beaten and needs to be ready for the big tourney. He will take 7th and then we will see where they stick him in the bracket in St. Louis. Hard guy to read but I won't count him out, not just yet....

I'm not sure he will take 7Th

To come out with that effort in his senior year after wrestling good for second half of season is inexcusable.....major head case.

Wow, you guys turn on a dime. Last week it was Jimmy was going to win Big Tens and NCAAs. Now he's garbage. Cracks me up.

Heard that. Bunch of people (majority) on this board probably never wrestled a varsity match in high school let alone college before and are so quick to turn on *their team* and put the wrestlers down. Keyboard heros. Jimmy fought for his team all year when he in reality just wanted to be done wrestling for good. One good match, everyone loves him. Bad match/tournament, he is the worst wrestler to ever walk this planet. Just like Bo. All year he is our hodge winner if he beats dean. He lost a match lmao. Rather have it now than in two weeks. He lost tonight. Now he is too cocky and scared out there???? You guys are insane....

Good post brother. I agree.

Few wrestlers can go out every match and look as good as many of our's have this year. Bad timing not to be their stellar selves but hey......this just might light a fire similar to situations such as being doubted all year as many favoring Okie State in the rankings. Being doubted seems to have lifted Ohio States efforts today.

It has also been mentioned before that to win The BIG TEN tournament is just as hard, if not harder to do.

Jimmy fought for his team all year when he in reality just wanted to be done wrestling for good.

That's the crux of the problem. I feel badly for him but there were times it was abundantly clear the mat was the last place he wanted to be (the Keystone Classic stood out particularly). Credit to him for sticking it out and helping the team as much as he did. I had hoped the way he wrestled down the stretch that he had regained his joy for wrestling. Eternal optimist that I am, I hope he realizes what a great opportunity is before him and that he responds well.

It's not like turning on a light switch. It typically comes down to ability. I think Jimmy is just not a top 141 pounder.

+1

How does JG stack up against his oppnent in the 7th place match today?

I keep seeing people calling Gulibon a head case. Isn't it possible that he is wrestling the best he can?

I know 4 time State Champ comes with high expectations, but some kids reach their potential earlier than others. Maybe he's been passed, especially at 141 where he is giving up size to most everyone.

After 5 years Jimmy continues to struggle finishing his take-downs. I'm sure the coaches have worked on it, I'm sure JG has worked on it.

I will try again. THIS. THIS. THIS. "{H}e ... just wanted to be done wrestling for good."

I'm not going to judge him or it, but Jimmy doesn't have his heart in wrestling anymore. Sometimes he fights through it better than others. It's clearly been a struggle for him this year. There were times when he was enjoying himself out there, and results followed. But there were other times when he obviously just wanted to get off the mat (the Keystone Classic and yesterday's consolations being the most glaring) as quickly as possible.

It has had to have been very tough for, and on, him. I appreciate the struggle and, despite everything else, what he was able to contribute to the team. I truly hope he can bring back his joy for wrestling for the next two weeks and leave his wrestling career on a positive note. For him. What we think, in the end, doesn't really matter.

jimmy is a good wrestler. Is vulnerable to a couple of things when he wrestles more aggressive than normal. The good thing is that he 'can' be some of the top guys. Here's hoping he does.

I can't let this pass.

First, the snippet (just wanted to be done wrestling for good) was taken far out of context. The OP used it as sarcasm about this board, did not mean it about Jimmy.

Second, if Jimmy really just wanted to be done wrestling for good, Moss would've wrestled this weekend. Cael would've pulled Jimmy's ass out of the lineup in a heartbeat.

So let's please dispense with this line of thought. It's a smear against both Jimmy and Cael.

Well good thing I kept reading before responding because I was about to question that myself. Didn't understand where some of those observations were coming from. I for one appreciate all Jimmy has done. He's a winner and after his career will be a winner in life. I'm going to miss him...

I don't agree with you about the "snippet" or that it was intended as sarcasm about this board. Some of the other parts of the post were directed towards this board, but not that part. You can say the OP had no idea what he's talking about, but clearly he thinks he does. And it all makes sense to me when I look at the season.

Maybe the OP can clear it up and if I'm wrong about what he intended, I'll admit it.

None of us knows what is really going on, we're all just speculating. How did what I say "smear" Jimmy and Cael? I have to believe Cael is trying to do what's for the team *and* Jimmy. And I have to believe Jimmy is trying to do his best for the team, even if it's not easy for him.

If someone wants to "smear" me like this at any point in my life, they should feel free to do so.

Thanks for that. It was very easy to take the snippet you refer to out of context, as no real context was provided in that post; it was just a direct statement. Saying Gulibon's struggles are because he does not want to be on the mat seemed very convenient after a bad tournament. As you state, if he did not want to wrestle, Sanderson should/would not have him in the lineup.

Message boards are for making comments/observations, asking questions and retrieving information. If someone has a comment that you don't like or agree with, then just ignore the comment. Everyone is entitled to their opinion. A lot of people think they have auto control over what should be said on these boards and are quick to criticize others when they disagree.

Bottom line on JG - I'm certain he's a great kid, will be a great contributor to society, is a damn good wrestler - one of the all time PA high school wrestlers....but to not be frustrated for both he and the team based on his performance yesterday is not out of bounds or out of control for discussion. He wrestled terribly yesterday for who knows why and to discuss that on a message board is certainly no sin.

Dumb comment. In case you don't know, being a head case is not a good thing. Not being a head case is part of being a good athlete.
Something tells me he's not going out there and trying to psych himself out. For some people it's just how their brain works. To knock a kid for that is peak asshattery

Ryan Diel knew his only shot was a headlock against Jimmy and it worked !!!! No excuse but this was his gameplan...Ryan used to go over to club Renegade with my son...He was talking to his club coach before that match....

JG - fifth year senior gets pinned 3 times in Big10 championship

I suspect not all of us have achieved as much as we might have. Tearing others down to make ourselves feel better is a mental sickness and one of our worse human tendencies. I guess this faceless medium encourages such perverse behavior.

how on earth could you possibly know who ryan diehl was talking to before his match? do you have his phone tapped?

Diehl is the real deal, so he was invited in to talk with Trump before the match for a pep talk and Spyker was listening in with Obama.

Spyker does the same thing on the BWI board. He claims to have contacts with the football team, and HS recruits all over the country.

There are only 2 reasonable options. Ignore him completely or take everything he says with a grain of salt.
