Seeking Annapolis restaurant/bar/shopping recommendations for this fall. Would prefer to be walking distance of historical district, likely staying at the waterfront. Will also be looking for a place to watch the Psu vs Maryland Friday night game.

Thanks in advance

well just walk outside, plenty of bars in Annapolis. My favorite is Mcgarvey's a long time Irish pub, one of the first of its kind in Annapolis. its in the corner by the market

a great place to watch the game would be Hero's pub, a short Uber from the Historic district, but it will have all the games on and be aware many Twerps will be there. They have great bar food, imo.

Don't let anybody talk you into the Green Turtle, it sucks, too corporate

a trip to Annapolis would not be complete with out going to Jimmy Cantlers Riverside inn. A legend with some of the best bay food you will ever eat. The Cantlers started as watermen in the Chesapeake, the Inn grew from there. It too is a short Uber from the Historic district but depending on the route taken, you'll get some good looks of the Naval Academy.

and if you are staying at the Historic Inns of Annapolis, beware, there are a few rooms there, that give the mice round shoulders, I mean you couldn't turn around in our bathroom without leaving it first. That was at the Maryland Inn.

BTW right across the street from there, in a newer shop was the best lobster roll I've ever had. Pretty calm chowder as well.
You can't help but have fun!!
and hit Chic and Ruths for breakfast!!! you can thank me later, crab omelette for sure!

We enjoy Reynolds Tavern for lunch. It's on Church Circle.
Jalapenos is also quite nice for dinner and reasonably priced. Don't let the location, in a strip mall, fool you. It's very nice inside. You won't get in without a reservation. It's always packed.

The iconic food of Annapolis is the crab, and the crab cakes at O'Leary's, Cantler's Riverside, and Chick and Ruth's Delly are the best in the United States.

In recent years, the Annapolis Chapter of the PSAA has had game viewing parties at:

The Greene Turtle
177 Jennifer Road
Annapolis

They've not yet announced their TV game party plans for 2019, so it's possible the location will change, but that's where you should tentatively plan to watch the game

Green Turtle has actually upped its game a lot over the years. It's a perfectly fine sports bar chain. And you're likely to find more PSU fans there than Maryland fans during the game.

Lewnes Restautant, over the bridge in East Port, makes a fantastic steak. We go to Annapolis a couple of times a year and always schedule them for dinner.

I guess if I had a choice between the Green Turtle and Hero’s I’d go to Hero’s 100% of the time.
I’ve never been a fan of the Green Turtle starting w it’s location. But to each their own

Yes, the Annapolis Green Turtle is a crappy location. But the restaurant is fine. Though there are others that I like more. It's possible the Annapolis one is a true corporate store vs others being franchises.

Agree with the two posters above about Chick and Ruth's. Great breakfast and the best crab cakes. We ate our breakfasts and dinners (did takeout) there.

McGarveys for crab dip and Chick and Ruth’s for breakfast.

State House Inn is a nice place to stay but not swanky, it’s historic. Chick and Ruth also run a hostel if you’re looking for budget accommodations.

Have a blast - other than it being in Maryland I really like Annapolis.

Is state house inn called the historic inns of Annapolis??

Agree Greene Turtle is very over rated. I would go to 20 restaurants in naptown over them. Severn inn over the navalk academy bridge has good but pricey food.

Not really a fan of McGarveys or Obriens down by the water. Rams head or red red wine for non breakfast. Iron rooster for breakfast

Just curious. What don’t u like about McGArveys??

To the OP if you are staying on the waterfront most likely that’s the Marriott. Nice place. They have a great outside bar that’s worth hanging out to watch the boats come and go. The restrarunt I believe is Pussers landing. Pretty good place, but still I’d rather go to Cantlers

I’ve live in the Annapolis area and would second some of the recommendations -
Breakfast - Chick n Ruth’s has great Corned Beef hash and their milkshakes are great as well. Iron Rooster has great food and serves breakfast all day, Fried Chicken and Waffles are awesome.
Dinner - Vin 909 is great, have to get there early, they don’t take reservations. Pizza is great!
Dry 85 Is a great Bourbon bar, and the food is good as well. They have great Brussel sprout appetizers.
Lewnes - phenomenal steaks, locally owned. Get Lyonnaise potatoes as a side along with Spiro salad. Expensive but well worth it.
The Point - it is in Arnold on the water, 15 min ride from downtown. Open air, great atmosphere and great food. Great place to hang out and just have drinks as well.
Bars - don’t go out much anymore, but Dry 85 is good, McGarveys, Pussers at the Marriott is right on the water, great in Summer and fall. Hit Davis’s in Eastport. Locals pub, small but gets you away from tourist area. Great place and down two blocks from Lewnes. Boatyard is good also in Eastport. Rams Head, micro brewery on West Street. Hero’s is more locals as well.
Ice Cream - Annapolis Ice Cream on Main Street is really good, fresh homemade.
Watching PSU Game - PSU alumni chapter did meet last year at Green Turtle. Not my favorite, but it’s always nice watching the game with other Alumni. Since it is a Friday night and it is MD all the bars will have the game on TV. Go to the Point and watch in open air if it is nice.
