Oklahoma loses their coach to the NFL.

Oregon loses their coach to USC.

Miami tosses their coach.

North Carolina loses their coach to retirement.

Arizona State loses their coach to scandal.

Is it possible, dear Lord, that Franklin takes $8 million plus achievement bonuses and leaves?

He is gone. He peaked at PSU and is on the decline. He is jumping ship while he still can. Same thing Al Golden was trying to do at Miami... only difference was Golden was good coach and a good guy.
Don't doubt that Golden is a good guy. Good (head) coach? That's news to me and, it seems, a whole bunch of other people.

Built a pretty good program at Temple, unfortunately he was lured to South Beach which has been a coach killer since the Orange Bowl was demolished in 2008.

And he's been without a head coaching job for the last seven years in a profession where a primary pre-req for getting a job is being fired from your last one.

Wrong. PSU biggest failure is a top QB for thirty years. Not one that succeeded in the NFL. If Allar and Pribula are as advertised we should be a NC contender soon. Certainly would help to get a line to match.......

Then we make the playoffs, maybe win it all. Plus his girls graduate high school. Then James is free to take the best offer he can get.

He's not going to win a championship until he develops a running game to go with that QB.

I will agree that getting a QB is important but IMO its still the trenches where the game is won. We won with pretty darn good QB in McSorley but have been woeful on the OL for a very long time.
Alabama had some very good QB's but what they really had was an awesome line and a stable of RB's.
A good OL and DL travels.

Easy for your QBs to be good when they start with great confidence and support :)

As an old lineman I certainly agree. To be the best you need to be solid in all phases......line, backs, defense, and QB. But my point was we haven’t had a NFL quality QB in thirty years. If we did so instead of A Rob, D Clark, or McSorely we would have had top five teams. Probably make playoffs with Barkley and top QB. Those guys were great leaders that served the team well but they weren’t top quality.

We have some solid young guys coming up. And some good kids coming in. The future looks bright.

Lack of stopping a running game didn't have anything to do with the loss on Saturday. I thought we were over this already.

Gosh, what a waste of a milestone post (Mr. 3000).
I guess that makes it a millstone (around the neck) post.

agree. Alabama has had good not great QB’s and won NC’s. AJ McCarron, Greg McElroy, John Parker Wilson, Blake Sims, Jake Coker, Brodie Croyle are/were not good NFL QB’s and some never even made the league. I think Tua and Hurts are both looking a lot more average than they did in college

that leaves Mac Jones as the only Alabama QB in the last 20 years that looks like a legit NFL QB.

ultimately - you don’t need a 5 star QB if he has 2 minutes to throw the ball, a punishing running game, and 5 star wide receivers running wide open all over the place.

Excellent point about their WR's and I can't believe I forgot to include them. 🤷‍♂️

Them controlling the clock and keeping the defense on the field had nothing to do with their victory. You’re right.
Thanks for acknowledging my (and others') correctness. Illinois scored 10 points in regulation. Should have whacked them by 4 touchdowns if the offense had any semblance of competency. If time of possession and total yards were part of the scoreboard, then PSU lost to Wisconsin too.

To quote Rex Tillerson, you’re a “f*cking moron.”
