Anyone not wanting a Pitt vs Penn State

If
Clemson can play South Carolina
Iowa can play Iowa St
Florida can play Miami
Utah can play BYU
Colorado can play Colorado st
Georgia can play G Tech
Kentucky can pay Louisville

We can play Pitt come on not don't be so snobby

It does not hurt Georgia's or Clemson's rankings

Start every year with a patsy tuneup, then play Temple and Pitt, then the B1G schedule. I'd be fine with that. Dominate the state.

Which of those teams has a 9-game conference schedule?

And using Colorado St. is akin to us playing Temple or Buffalo.

Also - "Don't be so snobby?" So you're a Pitt fan then. No use arguing any further and stop using "we" when referring to PSU.

Good post I think the biggest travesty is that
Oklahoma does not play Nebraska
Texas does not play Texas A&M
Pitt does not play WVU
PSU does not play Pitt
ecty ect

It goes beyond football with these types.

They'll proudly say it themselves so this is no insult to them. The great majority of them think that what Sandusky did (not once but countless times) and what Paterno, Bradley, the school president, AD and countless other coaches, administrators and even custodians did to enable it, and cover it up, then to obstruct justice after it was exposed, is perfectly fine.

Perfectly fine. They take the position that it didn't happen, or if it did happen, the others didn't know (despite countless evidence that they did), or most chillingly and creepily, that ok, it did happen, but what's the big deal, those were largely minority children, akin to animals, so Sandusky and the enablers were doing theses children a favor with the attention they got from PSU football hero (because nothing is more exalted than a PSU hero).

These aren't fabricated insults, THESE ARE THE POSITIONS THEY TAKE. The best possible of that range is the denial! Think about that. The ones that deny the truth are the BEST of the lot, over the outright liars and those who think it was actually great.

And that's not a few on the fringe that is nearly ALL OF THEM.

So yeah, why would anyone want to get on a chat board and dish with the likes of these?

This game today shouldn't have happened. Shame on our administration for taking it. Shame on everyone in college football for allowing them to continue.

You want to play garbage like that every year? Start rooting for Miami.

Who cares you don't think Alabama vs Auburn does not have this kind of stuff going on?? Or Miss vs Ole Miss or UNC vs NC State. It does thats what makes it a rivalry. Not milk and cookies. In State rivals are like that. Come on guys its not a night at the opera its football

All of those examples are in the same conference. We have nine conference games, leaving us with three OOC games. Every other year we only have four home conference games, leaving us with three games that need to be played here to cover expenses. If Pitt wants to come here, put them on the schedule, but the home and home is out the window.

OK Clemson vs South Carolina pow And if the BIG is that stupid then what a bunch of fools. Who agreed to that crap sure isn't helping the BIG win any National Championships. New TV contracts come out what in 4 years time for some BIG changes. And how can the SEC pay for its programs and not have 9 conference games????

I enjoy the game

I wish it could be played annually

I 100% understand why it’s not played annually

I doubt Alabama fans are accusing the entire Auburn fan base of being happy that children were molested (and not figuratively). That mindset is disgusting and has nothing to do with one football team playing another football team.

Keep crying about losing out on such a storied rivalry, the rest of us are perfectly content with flushing those turds.

WTF does that even mean?

I used to believe that PSU gets zero benefit from playing Pitt, and Pitt does benefit. Other than cash every other year at Pitt, the game doesn't benefit Pitt either. They lose most games ,and even when they win, it has no impact on their recruiting. After beating PSU the first game of the series, their recruiting was way worse than PSU. Glad it is done and will be even more glad when the few that want this to continue will stop talking about it. The game is irrelevant. Pitt should play Temple, but I believe that Temple would win more than Pitt.

What about a rotation of OOC which includes a traditional eastern team. Schedule Syracuse, WVA, BC,Temple, and Pitt - in a series of one each year.

Yea we crushed them Saturday

PSU's offense played with mostly sophs and freshman on offense. Clifford was starting his first P5 game of his career. His inexperience showed. With all that, PSU still won. 140-72 over the series. So yea over the course of the series, we crushed them.

Whether to play Pitt could be argued ad nauseam but to what purpose? They are gone and they aren't coming back. For those of us who believe that is the best result for Penn State there is much merriment today. :)

annual football game is an idiot.

id·i·ot /ˈidēət/

noun: idiot; plural noun: idiots

  1. informal
    a stupid person.
synonyms: fool, ass, halfwit, nincompoop, dunce, dolt, ignoramus, cretin, imbecile, dullard, moron, simpleton, clod;More
    • archaic
      a person of low intelligence.
Please help me understand the benefit to PSU of an ongoing home and home series with Pitt? As a stupid person - or a fool, halfwit, or dullard if you prefer, I cannot think of a single one.

And do you know what those rankings mean? Nothing. Nothing at all.

Can't wait until the showdowns with Nevada and San Jose State next year.

Funny, I thought there were 3 ooc games not 2... is there a reason you didn’t mention Virginia tech? Because that is who replaces Pitt. Nevada and San Jose State are not better or worse (but probably better) than Idaho and buffalo. If you think Pitt is Nevada or San Joseesque you’ve explained perfectly why playing them is a waste.

Hate to break it to you, but Pitt is better than Virginia Tech. Better program historically, and better right now.

They are not. Heading into this season, Virginia Tech leads in total wins 738 to 724; in winning percentage .610 to .574; in conference titles 11 to 2; in bowl winning percentage .406 to .382; and in final AP poll rankings 20-19 and 302 weeks to 297. With 25 consecutive bowl appearances, Tech has the longest current consecutive bowl game streak in the county. In last 25 years, Pitt has won 10 or more games once. Tech has done it 14 times. Now, we could also talk about attendance, but that wouldn't be fair. Of course, Pitt does have 87 National Championships, so there is that.:)

Still the biggest two in state programs playing one another

Let me sum up your desire for a Pitt-PSU game.

I don't care about what is best for PSU
I don't care how CFB has changed
I don't care about how Pitt deep-sixed the Eastern football conference that drove PSU to the B1G
I don't care that the B1G has 9 conference games
I don't care about any of the reasons you guys have provided
I DON'T CARE - I DON'T CARE - I DON'T CARE!!!!
You are an idiot if you don't think PSU should play Pitt every year

You forgot “I only care about keeping rivalries that we’re big 30 years ago, but not any more.”
