Yes, that and Strittmatter is an assistant coach at UPJ.
But it doesn't matter, Stritt said he isn't leaving for Pitt, so why would he leave for VT?
So VT likes to make those "not so sure thing" type hires it seems. Before Dresser was Brands, he didn't have much experience either did he?
Jody is an assistant coach at UPJ. I'd be willing to bet Pecora has him involved quite heavily in some day to day things...may even be grooming him to take over there soon. I'd also be willing to bet Jody has the smarts to to run a program, deal with administration, budgets, oversee recruiting.
I'll admit I'm a Western Pa guy but had to live in the Blacksburg area because of my job. If I ever leave this area again it would be to go back there and only there. It felt a lot like home. Close enough to come home anytime and close enough to run that that Young guns pipeline straight down 81...after taking the short cut through Berkley Springs to Winchester that is...
I actually think the VT job is a lot more attractive for a coach than one at Pitt. And if I were to raise a young family like Jody is, I'd choose Blacksburg over Pittsburgh as well.
Except that wasn't Pitt vs VT when he said he didn't want Pitt. It was Pitt or stay at home. And he was instantaneous no on Pitt.
If he takes a D1 job, that means quitting Young Guns -- the molding of youth and the pay that goes with it.

Andro, in fairness your original post and this one both do not mention Strittmatter's job at UPJ.
Well I'll have to apologize then. I ASSumed your post was directed at those of us discussing Jody and the possibility of him heading up a big time program. I missed that you just randomly threw out what it takes for someone to be a head coach with absolutely no intentions at all. My apologies....
