Articles for Friday

interesting to see suriano give credence to the possibility that he'll move up to 133. maybe i missed it, but that's the first i've seen him acknowledge it directly.

It seems like he’s always running away from something.
I don't know if it's necessarily that. For as much as he works toward a wrestling title with tremendous focus, I'm not sure he is all in mentally at times. Probably a misalignment of actions and goals. Not a knock against him. We all have that problem from time to time.

Bottom line, Nick is the “Man” at Rutgers & arguably their best wrestler. He was a “Team Member” at PSU & was in the middle of the pack & he’s knows it.

He needs a championship to validate himself and he won’t get it against Lee.
In the meantime he'll just talk smack on Penn State. It's the best way to ingratiate oneself to the Rutgers fanbase.

Rutgers wrestling winning the RU award for top team :) Rutgers didn't have any teams finish in the top 10?

That's comedy gold. Apparently, a winning record in conference isn't a prereq to win the best team award, as RU was 3-6 in the B10.

Apparently none of their other teams beat Lock Haven either.

If he loves it so much why can't he just move on and not try and run PSU down?

Last time a reporter asked Suriano about Penn State, the Scarlet Nation was bitching and moaning about why the media keeps asking him about Penn State. Well, he wasn't prompted this time. Hard to like the kid, really. Just stfu already. Nobody cares if you like it more at Rutgers, because it's obvious why - you are the big cheese there, which you were never going to be at Penn State. We get it.

And, yes, a team that was 3-6 in the league and wound up 11th in the league tournament out of 14 teams was the team of the year at Rutgers. Slim pickings, obviously. It's like they want people to poke fun at them.

If Nick were 30 years old, I'd absolutely agree with you, but he's not. I said stupid stuff when I was 20 that was cringe-worthy, and I'm sure you did too. He's immature, so let's move on. It happened to all of us.

If it were the first time he's done it, I'd agree with you. But it's not. He actually thinks he's being clever and funny (read his followup to his unsolicited comment) - and he's not.

Where please.

And don't get me wrong, I think Nick needs better guidance in his life, it just seems overdone to criticize a 20 year old for making the same mistake repeatedly. He'll learn.

If I was the AD at Rutgers I'd institute a new rule. Two criteria to be eligible for the best team of the year award: first, you have to have a winning record in conference. Second you can't lose to Lock Haven. If I was an RU wrestler I'd be too embarrassed to accept this award. Maybe some years this award had no winner. :)

Matter7172, read the next article in your link about the Rutgers football WR. I guess what is good for the goose is not good for the gander.o_O

I posted this elsewhere but it also seems appropriate here:

If Suriano had stayed there would have been little excitement at BIGs and even less at Nationals. Instead we got a Saturday night for the ages. No one....and I mean NO ONE will forget Bo's pin and celebration. The thrill of Victory and the Agony of defeat played out in slow motion again and again. I can't be the only one who went from a near panic attack to literally jumping out of my chair with joy. Who will forget Nick Lee's guts and determination.....Nevills winning his last match with one arm....Nolf....etc. Thank You Nick!

Plus....I will add that during the PSU / Rutgers dual.....Nick had by far the biggest mismatch of the night. Nick wrestled hard but clean.....which is not something you could say about others that night. Thank You Nick. Can we agree to wish him well at Rutgers? Or at least agree to let it go and move on. Nick's leaving made the OSU dual and the National Championships SO MUCH Sweeter and unforgettable. I wouldn't wish it any other way. Thanks Nick
