Ash knew about the abuse.

According to McMurphy all the coaches knew and Ash was still coaching at OSU.

Even if all the assistants heard rumors I’m really not sure what theyre supposed to do? If a coworker of yours told you another coworker was abusing his wife what do you do? Confront him? Go to HR with a rumor? Assault him? Tell your boss to fire him? Quit in protest? What if you do all that and it turns out to be false? You ready for him to sue you?

They should do whatever they said Paterno should have done.

They aren’t paterno though. They aren’t Urban. They aren’t the boss. Looking at this situation independently of Penn State or sports. If it happened to you at work what do you do? If someone walked up to you and said “John hits his wife” what do you do?

Now let me think where have I heard that rationale before...wait....wait....oh yea here starting Nov. 9th 2011 and going through oh 2014.
Didn't work for us either.

The real world is a labyrinth of value judgments one in a position of authority must traverse continually. Since the masses are asses, they break lapses in judgement and mistakes down to simplified forms they can digest and express outrage. "Don't confuse me with the facts,"....."off with his head" and on to the next outrage.

I’m not talking about it in those terms. Really, if someone told you “I hear so and so in accounting abuses his wife” what would you do with that info?

I agree but I think you missed my point a little.
all I'm saying is that we said the same thing and no one even considered it.

As the father of two daughters, I'd tell you what I would do. I would confront the man whom I heard allegations of privately, and ask him to explain himself.

This is a moral issue. Not a professional one.

My wife drives me insane, but would never consider laying a hand on her. Its the most despicable, unfair action a man can take. What a pussy to beat on a woman.

Our assistants weren’t assailed for the most part. Listening to cowherd right now. Just said urban keeps his job If there is evidence he ran it up the flag pole. Smh.

What if he denies it and tells you to f* off?

You must remember things differently about that time than I do.
IIRC ALL of our coaching staff was under attack and had to know.
As for Cowherd...I dont see how thats even possible because if he goes that route then
the powers that be at OSU are in deep shit and we all know that Meyer was the in control of everything at OSU.

Huh? Wow, stupid post. What if he accepts culpability, and tells you to F off...

Why? Odds are if you go to someone you work with who isn’t a direct report and say “I heard you beat your wife explain yourself.” Hes going to deny it, he isn’t going to say yup. And if the rumor you heard is wrong and he doesn’t beat his wife you’re probably getting fired.

The staff was under attack in the media but at the end of the day there were no real repurcussions against any assistants except McQueary (and maybe schiano if you want to argue for the Tennessee mess). Bradley was still hireable, Lj was still hireable, assistants who had left previously weren’t fired for having psu on their resume.

Agree. The only way I'm getting involved is if I see physical evidence that the wifes being beat.

Well, if you’re an assistant coach, according to new ncaa rules, you report to your direct supervisor

Again I don't remember it like that. I think you might want to talk to some of the coaches.
It took Bradley 3 years to get a job.

Pretty sure most Rutgers fans would be happy with this news. Ash hasnt exactly risen Rutgers from the ashes. Just added more ashes.
