Really looking forward to visiting Happy Valley next week. I’ve been to all of the SEC venues, most are pretty great. This will be a completely different animal. I know that it’s gonna be a madhouse, but any inside info on open tailgates and good bars would be greatly appreciated. I think that those of you that come down to Auburn will really like it. Thanks, War Eagle…

Not a lot of advice but would love to see you post a review after the game

Hope you have a great trip into Happy Valley. Also hope you are miserable on your ride home!!! Gonna be a great game, Auburn is scary fast.

Tailgate spots are anywhere within a ¾ mile circumference of Beaver Stadium......

Bars on Friday night and Saturday night are up and down College Avenue.....all will be crowded.....get there early.

For something truly Northern/Pittsburg and a decent bar I’d go to Primanti Brothers. It’s a pretty fun place and it’s still family friendly most of the day…and cont crazy expensive.

also should hit the creamery for some ice cream.

Anything downtown gives a cool college town experience imho.

My beloved uncle Don Mowe was an Auburn grad, a War Eagle through and through. I’ve always had a soft spot for Auburn.

I’ve caught one fish in my life (on the dock at Silver Lake in Rehoboth Beach), and of course it was Uncle Don who helped me reel it in. Miss him.
One fish? Do you want to go fishing sometime? You'll have to reel them in on your own though as I'll be busy with my own fish.

Welcome. You can walk around most tailgates and walk right in. Most alums will greet you openly. Students? Who knows.

many great downtown bars all in walking distance.

friend of mine’s daughter goes to auburn. He always screams war eagle. We say, “who are you” lol.

you are in for an experience. Beautiful views with the mountains and Crazy atmosphere. Have fun.

Here's my 2 cents. Take in both the downtown and tailgate atmospheres. As long as you're respectful, you'll be treated like an honored guest and you'll probably get multiple offers for free drinks.

My favorite downtown spots include the patio at Cafe 210 West and it's full list of adult teas, along with Champs Downtown and its 2 level Sports Bar where you can watch every game and enjoy a good burger.

Like I said earlier, if you're walking around the tailgate area around the stadium you'll be invited to join many tailgates as long as you're being respectful. Free drinks, food and entertainment will be all around. Take it all in. I've never been to an SEC venue but I know that in it's own way, there's nothing like the Whiteout gameday atmosphere in Happy Valley!

Stop by after the game and tell us what you thought.

WE ARE!!

Pretty simple to attend tailgates. Wear lots of Auburn gear and a big smile and walk through the lots around Beaver Stadium. I think the East and South side are the better ones, but any will do. Walk close to the crowds and stop to admire...you'll be pulled into most of them and given all the food and drink you like. Just be ready to talk football, so know who we should be watching out for and what you believe are the weaknesses. People will love you.

I'll wait for others to recommend bars and chime in where needed.

I’ve had some fun tailgating experiences at Bama (sorry), but don’t know if that’s representative of the rest of the SEC. If so, you’re in for a real treat.

Everyone I know that’s coming is really excited. Gets old getting corn dogs tossed at you. The grown ass men barking at the wife and kid is pretty fun too….

have a great trip! Tailgating at PSU is awesome and you will be received with open arms.

You've got to stop in Berkey Creamery (great ice cream), but get there early because the lines are long. Walk along College Ave, visit the Nittany lion shrine, and stop at the on campus bookstore to get a slice of PSU atmosphere.

Glad to get an SEC team up north, something we don't see often.

I think most posters have prepared you for the worst. Fact is unless you are subject to random drunk kid saying something you will be welcomed and respected. It’s very unique the way a huge circle around the stadium is one giant party with open container. Try to see as much as you can. Maybe don’t get bogged down in a single tailgate.

Bring an ice cream scooper, buy a gallon, and skip the line.

First up. If you are driving or flying into Pitt, Philly, or Harrisburg enjoy the drive in through the bucolic countryside . Get there early Sat to have all day to explore. Friday is better to join in pregame activities.

State College is a small town that wouldn’t exist without the university, only about 40,000. The rest is beautiful mountains, valleys, and farms. The town and campus is divided by College Ave......walk along the street as that is the gateway to both. It will be very crowded all day. Lots of bars, restaurants, pizza shops, t-shirt stores, and more. McClanahans is probably the best for all sorts of memorabilia and souvenirs.

Game Day will be there, most likely set up in front of Old Main, the main administration building. You can walk from town up the mall which will take you through the center of campus and up to the Pattee Library, one the of biggest in the country. It’s a beautiful campus even for its size. Then walk west to find the giant Nittany Lion statue by Rec Hall.

If you are driving up and love old architecture visit Bellefonte about twelve miles north. Beautifully restored buildings and a good pancake house for breakfast. Or take a Uber/Lyft. Several microbreweries in the area too. Stone Valley to the south is great lake to visit.

But the best is the tailgating. The stadium will be surrounded by 400 acres of cars and RVs with over 150,000 people. If you can, bring a bicycle and ride around to take it all in as it is massive. Best way to visit it all. Bring earplugs...it will be that loud!

Should be a great time for all. Enjoy and report back.

Edit....as others said, the creamery is a must visit!

Helpful hint...gameday bus service around campus (Blue Loop) is free. The Blue Loop buses will continuously provide free transportation from around the stadium to downtown SC all day and night. If you don't know where to find a stop, just ask someone and I'm sure they'll point you in the right direction.

Not for nuth'n, but be skeptical taking advice from someone who doesn't know how to spell Pittsburgh.

There is also the White Loop which will get you close to the Stadium, just ask the driver. Note, bring a mask as all indoor campus buildings (creamery), and buses, require a mask. Downtown businesses and bars aren't required so most will not require masks.

Every fan base has it's assholes. But, by and large I believe you will find PSU fans to be very hospitable. By the way....had any Joe Ciampi sitings on the Plains recently? For many years we coached (he boys basketball) (me football) at the same high school in NY.

I would barhop early, then skate around the tailgates once they get going. It's been a while since I've been up for a game though. Hope for good weather cause the fields will be a disaster if it rains late in week.

Enjoy the spectacle. Hope it holds up to the SEC parties. I would guess 120,000 people for GameDay.
