AU fan coming up next week…

Really looking forward to visiting Happy Valley next week. I’ve been to all of the SEC venues, most are pretty great. This will be a completely different animal. I know that it’s gonna be a madhouse, but any inside info on open tailgates and good bars would be greatly appreciated. I think that those of you that come down to Auburn will really like it. Thanks, War Eagle…
Before the game, you need to stop by the Creamery for some of the best ice cream you will ever have.

Would love to hear your thoughts of the White Game experience after the game.

Are you coming with a parking pass already in hand? Just so you know you cannot pay for parking at the stadium lot locations. Parking passes must be paid for in advance and the pass must be in hand before you can enter a lot surrounding the stadium. Passes can be purchased day of game (subject to availability) at Innovation Park which is about a mile east of the stadium. That said, there are several parking decks on campus where you can pay cash and park but they fill up pretty quickly.

Final option is to find a place to park in the town of State College which is on one side of East College Ave (commercial district) with the University occupying the opposite side of College Ave. You can walk up to the stadium if you park near the commercial area of State College. Google maps is your friend for getting the lay of the land for the town of State College and how its situated to the university (University Park)
I am, lot 33

There used to be people selling parking passes along Rt 322 (starting about 15 miles out) and along Park Avenue right near the stadium. I didn't notice any this past week but perhaps that was because parking was readily available...heck, the Hub parking garage still had spaces 90 minutes before the game.

Did anyone see parking ticket "scalpers" on their way in this past weekend? Either way, I suspect they'll be this Saturday.

Breakfast at the Corner Room on College, Avenue

Dinner at The Tavern - get reservations

Bars & Pubs:
Zeno’s next door & below the Corner Room restaurant

Bill Pickles Tap Room - Allen Street

Doggies Pub - Replaced the long standing Rathskeller Bar, but haven’t been yet

The Shandygaff for music, karaoke

Tailgating - anywhere near Beaver Stadium

Catch a Big Ten baseball game in the afternoon at Jeffry Field nearby, or soccer game.
I don't think the Corner Room is open for breakfast at the moment. Also, it will be very hard to get there at that time with College Gameday on campus. Breakfast at the Waffle Shop on West College.

The Corner Room is definitely not open for breakfast, on game day at least. It's been tradition for us to have breakfast there for decades and we were surprised to find it was not open until 11:30 prior to the Ball St game.

Corner Room isn’t open at all for breakfast. They just reopened after some renovations, but not for breakfast. Their website says they hope to open for breakfast soon.

Thx. It’s amazing they weren’t able to complete the renovations before football season began. I’m sure there were delays of some sort. Hoping they’re done by the Indiana game, since I’m headed up there for that one.

Renovations are done and they’ve been open for a few weeks. They’re just not open for breakfast.

Another question for the home fans. Am I wasting my time trying to find a table at a bar/restaurant downtown for a small group of us if we roll in around 2-3 PM, or is that doable? It sounds like your stadium tailgate scene is massive so I'm hoping maybe that relieves some of the congestion downtown. TIA

Not everyone tailgates, but you can try. No guarantees as it is a 7:30 pm kickoff.

You will probably be disappointed. Downtown will be packed and the lines will be ridiculous at every bar/restaurant.
Possibly you can get some Asian food since none of those places downtown sell alcohol (Little Szechuan or Big Bowl are both great and good value). Then (assuming your parking pass is in a lot near the stadium) you could just go back to the car for tailgating/drinking.

I just checked and the Allen Street Grill (above the Corner Room) has a table opening for 2:30 and for 2:45 on Saturday...right now. Probably won't last long now that I've let the cat out of the bag so act fast.

You'll love the views. Here's a photo of the building. The Corner Room is on the first floor. The Allen Street Grill is on the second floor, with all those large windows. It's also a hotel with about 10 rooms or so. No air conditioning in the rooms, but it's a great location and often has availability which you must call to check on as they don't do internet reservations.

I think town might be a bit crowded with GameDay being at Old Main but who knows? I know where the fun is, and it's not on College Ave. during a white out.

There were many downtown and near Hickey's distributor.

The best bet would be to pick up some hoagies and some beverages in town and head back to the parking lots for some tailgating as that’s where the fun is. You can shop along college Avenue when you buy your food (beer sold in separate stores usually) and stop at the creamery for the world’s best ice cream. Also walk over to the Nittany Lion shrine on the west side of campus if you can handle the walking or take the Cata bus loop around the campus. The arboretum nearer the stadium is also a good idea. Downloading a campus map in advance would be a smart move. Spend some time just walking around the parking lots a enjoy some of the scene around the RVs. Some of which will have outdoor TVs tuned into the early games. The team arrival 90 minutes before the game, 6:00pm is a good tradition with the band and cheerleaders marching in parade form in front of the players. There will be a few thousand fans at the south side of the stadium to cheer the festivities. Have fun. Plan on getting into the stadium an hour before kickoff. There will be long slow lines everywhere, even downtown, with 107,000 but once you’re in your seats there is plenty to watch between warmups, the Blue Band, the fireworks and the team entrances. The place will be rocking. Don’t be late.

They were on 26 on the usual spots coming off of 322 in front of Hickeys, the Hampton Inn, etc.

And off the Innovation Park exit off 99 but like I said earlier, they were scanning parking passes at the lot I entered so beware of counterfeits.

Just approach a party that looks good, say “Hi, y’all, Auburn fan who’s just amazed by all this,” and you’re golden. You’ll be offered food, drink, and a good social atmosphere. You’ll also wind up stumbling to your seat, if you wish.

I THOUGHT YOU WERE KIDDING IN THE OTHER POST YOU MADE ABOUT SCANNING PASSES
FUDGE, THAT MUST DELAY THE TRAFFIC BIG TIME. I DIDN'T MAKE LAST WEEKS GAME, GAVE OUT TICKETS TO THE YOUNG NEIGHBORS
If they keep it up it probably won't be too bad for the 8 pm games, it's the noon games that might be an issue

There was guy selling parking passes on Park Ave last Saturday. I saw some people pull up and buy one. He was on the non campus side of Park.

The other thing I noticed is people driving down Park Ave without parking passes and the State Troopers working traffic kicked them off Park Ave directing them to the deck at the Creamery or made them get off Park at that street. Which means the dumbasses had to cut across 3 lanes of traffic because they are not reading or ignoring the signs telling you what lane to get in while cause traffic to come to a stop backing things up.

Food at the Allen Street Grille is probably best in town. Service is great too. Haven't been there since B.C. (Before Covid). One of the best parts is using the urinal in the bathroom, there is a pic of Bear Bryant leaning against the goal post in Beaver Stadium above it you get to stare at.
