I had a hard time picking an overrated one. I love Come Together, but it's not my of my favorites of theirs. But I think it's regarded as one of their best. I have to disagree on Hey Jude. It's highly rated, but deserved in my opinion.

Rush
Best- Limelight
Overrated- Tom Sawyer
Underrated- Subdivisions
Agree with all of this. Tom Sawyer got played to death when it came out. I might be able to enjoy it if I hadn't heard it about 5000 times already. I think I'm good.
I also think 2112 as a whole, and some of the songs on it are underrated in that they don't get .01 the air play that Tom Sawyer gets.

Paul McCartney is my favorite. I would add as underrated, silly love songs. It is the Quintessential 1970’s (1976) pop song. I can still see the 45 spinning on my record player.

IMO, "Can't you hear me Knockin" is the most underrated Stones and rock song. It has everything. Killer riff, nasty vocals, great solo section at the end.

I'll nominate "She Said, She Said" as underrated Beatles song. Interesting tidbit - the song is about an annoying acid experience with Peter Fonda.

Inf its any consolation I think John hated Come Together too. LOL.
Yea I was just never a fan of Hey Jude.

I would consider Stairway to be Overrated.

Best - Kashmir
Overrated - Stairway to Heaven
Underated - Lemon Song
Overrated because it's overplayed?

Musically, the song is really unbelievable. The contrary motion of the guitar line in the beginning (bass note walks down and highest pitch walks up) shows Page's understanding of classical composition. The song has what, 4 or 5 different parts which build through the song. Complex chords - I doubt any other rock song uses a major/minor 9th. Great lyrics. It's the whole package.

Rumor had it that Fonda came to a party and was telling everyone he knew what it was like to be dead.

So to drift off topic but @Grant Green, check out my post about "Rumble" and Native American Guitar players.
You probably know all of it but I thought it was excellent.

Technically - great. But I just think Led Zep did more with other songs - like Kashmir. Sorry - but I think it's overrated.

There are dozens of Beatles songs that you could list as underrated.

Lovely Rita
Sexy Sadie
Happiness is a Warm Gun
Oh Darling
Because
Two of Us
Girl
I Need You
You're Gonna Lose That Girl
The Night Before
You've Got to Hide Your Love Away

And Your Bird Can Sing

I was fully prepared to mock your selections - but your Cars’ selection simply nailed it... though All Mixed Up is not only underrated, it’s their best song (and among my favorites of all time... I was in 8th grade when that album came out and got to 2nd base listening to that song)

Beatles:

Best: Norwegian Wood
Overrated: Hey Jude
Underrated: Everbody’s Got Something to Hide Except Me and My Monkey
