Bearcat Open 11/13

Carpenter loses his first match 10-5
Lindenmuth forfeits to Nelson of Binghamton... Bout was tied 7-7 at the time.

Do you follow college wrestling?

Oh, God. Can we get a facepalm emoji? It's not a shot at PSU. I understand we can't all have the situation that Okie St. and Iowa have. Still, PSU thinner than they'd like to be. Don't think there's disputing that. But it's hard when you have guys transferring to be starters elsewhere.

Per Track, Kocsis made it out of the first period only down 8-1 to Mark Hall.

Something must be wrong with Hall (j/k)

Hall with a quick single leg, then a cheap tilt for 4... Readjusts with a savage arm bar....but no points. Optional start so 6-1...then a quick head inside single... 8-1..thats how the first period ends... 2+ mins of RT

Hall takes bottom... Out in 20 secs. Shoots... Bit of a scramble, then 2 for Hall. BU guy playing dead on bottom. Hall locks up the cradle, but runs out of time. He should've had two backs.

Hall on top... Gets a 4 count... 15-1. Escape Bing... 15-2....takedown Hall... 17-2 Tf@ 5:34

Bisono stays alive with a 6-4 win.

Please tell me how anyone in college wrestling is in a different situation. Nothing matters except NCAAs and PSU has 1/2 dozen guys sitting on the bench that can get there - across 6 or possibly 7 of the weights. Point them out on the Iowa bench for me please. JC, we probably have a better 125lb backup right now (not long term, right now) or at least as good as lightweight U. OK State I would agree has more depth spread out across the board than we do right now, but how many more points would that translate into a nationals? Probably not many more. Give me another team in D1 with more depth than we have besides OK State. And I don't mean dual depth.

I get that you want a backup capable of scoring points at every weight, but that's not possible here - until next year.;)

Track needs to work on their pricing. $11.95 for Bearcat Open video?
This, definitely. This is the type of tournament where I suspect you'd get far more than double the number of people to buy in if it was only $6. Or more than quadruple if it was only $3. If it's anything like past years there's going to be a bunch of forfeits in the finals, with guys bailing to get home b/c the tourny ran late.

Kocsis is a P'Burg kid (NJ) - P'Burg tough. Glad to see he is back wrestling - he had some health issues to overcome.

Well I do care about duals just a little bit. But yeah, if Nolf went down for a season ending injury, as far as nationals, I really couldn't care less if we had Cody Law to replace him or not. I get your point.

And I was under the impression that Yanovich was injured.

This is a pretty silly post.

I'm about to go crazy. The homerism on this board is insane. I'm sorry that Stossel, Carpenter, Dinmore at 165, and Stout at 285 isn't ideal spot duty. I WON'T MENTION IT AGAIN. Nevermind that people have pointed out tOSU's laughable depth on here for years.

DO I EVEN SPORTZ?!

It's not homerism dude.

You get 9.9.

How is anyone gonna have 20 AA caliber kids on a roster, or even 20 qualifiers, starters and backups, at all weights ?

It's not possible.

I get your point. When it comes to nationals, it doesn't matter if you have Cody Law or not. Or Kellen Stout. But in terms of duals, we have guys who are about as good as a forfeit. DUALS DON'T MATTER! I GET IT!

I'm done with this topic. Insufferable. PSU #1 EVERYTHING. Change the name of the subforum to Tbar.

You're being over the top. My point is that I can't name another team besides OK State that has better depth than we do this season. And I would agree that this season we will be shorter on depth than some.

But you're original post was "razor thin at half the weights." Which is hyperbole. You also brought up Iowa in your rebuttal, which was a mistake. They've got no depth at all.

Giannangelli with Mike Van Brill next. Van Brill has been impressive as a frosh for Rutgers so far - defeating Karam and losing in OT to Pomrinca last week (Pomrinca is the kid who beat R. Cruz at Lehigh wrestle offs). Good test.

Also, Giannangelli's win over Salvo (Brown) is not bad. Salvo up and down in the EIWA last year but came close to qualifying for NCAAs IIRC. May be rounding into a nice solid kid down the road. There you go, LemonPie ;)

PSU already has depth at 141. Where PSU has it, they have it. Definitely a solid guy to have.

Stossel drops a tough one 5-4...his day is over.
Giannangeli falls 10-4 in OT, he's moving to consis
Carpenter goes down 6-3..... He's done now, too

Apologies if I miss any other bouts, trying to listen to the dual meet too... Wrestling overload!

Giannangelli loses in SV. Tough one, got a TD to go ahead with under :30 to go, but gives up an escape very late.

Eagles on, Stanford match cued up on BTN 2 Go, Bearcat open on Track, something has to give. I'm out...

Stout battling pretty even with Darmstadt through 1...0-0

Stout gives up a reversal and backs... 6-0 after 2.

Neutral to start third... Takedown Darmstadt... 9-0 final
