Thoughts on making everyone clean shaven.

when I wrestled in HS albeit a long you hair could not touch collar, no facial hair and nails needed to be trimmed to a standard.
Did this change?
Was college allows allowed to wear a beard?

I remember having to dry shave a couple of times in HS.

Facial hair is limited to 1/2 inch so medical exams (skin checks) can be made. This change took effect for the 2017-18 season.

When they made that kid in NJ last year cut off all his dreads while he was sobbing pretty much changed any hair length rule for good. I can see the medical need for clean shaven for skin checks, but hair length was a kind of silly rule to start with.

Larryrise, look at the rules thread. We mentioned George the Barber at the exact same time. Home much is George paying you for promotional consideration?

Back in the late '50s, one of our wrestlers came to school with a Don Eagle (that's what we called it back then) -- that single strip front to back in the middle of the otherwise bald head. He was allowed to return to school when it grew back.

In the '80s, my son was forced to cut his hair before a dual. He was so pissed he lost the bout. Wrestled the same guy at sections and kicked his butt.

The hair rule was IMO and time period just a control rule in response to the hippie hair.

Wrestled in State College - 1960s - was some pressure to cut sideburns - which a few of us refused to do. That's all I remember.

Harriton was a team in '65 --suburban rich kids-- who all died the front part of their hair blonde and combed it like the Beach Boys. Actually looked pretty cool.

FYI...
Although beards have a bad rap as being a breeding ground for bacteria, recent research has discovered that your facial hair may actually fight infection, according to a press release from the BBC.

Int the study, which was published in the Journal of Hospital Infection, researchers swabbed the faces of 408 men on the hospital staff, with and without facial hair.

Surprisingly, the results found that clean-shaven guys were more likely to be harboring a plethora of germs. In fact, they were three times as likely to be carrying methicillin-resistant staph aureus (MRSA) on their faces.
