Penn State wins the national championship and Ohio State finishes third.

Also, Ohio State has the #1 ranked wrestler, pinned in the semis, NOT the finals.

Also, Ohio State loses at 141, where they are ranked 2nd, and does not place.

Also, Ohio State's coaches son, loses both matches and goes home with nothing.

Also, Ohio State totally fails at 184 and 197.

Also, Ohio State fails at 149.

Yep, our redshirt freshmen went out there and lost to them tonight on two missed throws, and our other redshirt freshmen lost to one of the greatest of all time who will probably be a 4 time champ, only the fifth in the history of the sport, and our senior 197 pounder lost to a freak of nature who looked like an NFL middle linebacker...

So, yeah, a bit of a bummer tonight, but overall, it sucks to be Ohio State this year, and it's great to be Penn State.

So swill on that Ryan.

I wish folks on this board would just congratulate the accomplishments of other teams, and other coaches. On a night like tonight, while we each want our wrestlers to win their matches, we also celebrate this amazing sport.

If other fans bother you, other boards bother you, or wrestlers or coaches from other schools bother you, just shrug and know that they all want the best for their team, and leave it at that.

Tom Ryan does have a lot to celebrate. He has a true freshman that won a title, and a true soph that won a title, and both were guys that didn't start the season in the starting lineup. He has a very good team returning, one or two nice prospects that redshirted this year, and a couple of excellent recruits, Pletcher and White, joining the program.

Iowa didn't finish on the podium, but they have all 3 finalists returning, Kemerer coming off of RS, and a few other guys that were shirted this year ready to join the lineup, and Young and Marinelli in a recruiting class of 8, plus a couple of verbals for next year's class.

Okla. St. loses Ringer but they came in 2nd even while a few of their studs got injured and couldn't even participate at the end of the season. They have some excellent guys that redshirted, etc.

I could go on for other teams, but there's no need. My point is that while we compete tooth and nail with these teams, we should also celebrate their accomplishments, especially after a great NCAAs.

While I'm responding to 21Guns' post, my response is on a broader scale, and to a number of things posted today/tonight.

Wow, overreact much? Get a grip, dude.

I swear, watching the NCAA finals must make people stupid.

That is the great thing about this sport. There is plenty for everyone to celebrate about. I know last year we did not win the national title, but I sure was celebrating Matt Browns victory. For some of the smaller schools even having an All-American is worth a celebration. I will not disparage a coach bragging and being happy about their wrestlers performance. Celebrations don't need to be exclusive. I think we have enough to cheer with Nico and Zain's titles, the National Duel Title, and the National Tournament Team Title.

Honestly, I believe this is the nature of message boards and society now. People absolutely love tearing down others, including eating their own. It's far worse in the Den. It got to the point last football season I nearly left. Let's be very honest about last night. We had one finally realize a dream. One we knew would realize his dream. One that isn't quite there, but is except a phenomenal last second move. One that should have won but takes too many chances. And finally one that fought like hell but just wasn't quite long enough or quick enough.

It was a great year considering we were never really competitive at 165 and had no one at heavyweight. Couple that with a couple not quite reaching where they could have been and Cutch, well, who knows if it was a knee or what. We Are National Champions once again. Stop bitching and be happy without tearing others down.

What Tom and Bruce said.

When did Penn State's national championship become about anybody other than Penn State?

"Not Iowa" and "not Ohio State" are not etched onto the trophies. Not on the banners in Rec Hall. But the other schools do apparently get to live rent-free in the heads of some of our fans.

I for one am happy to see tOSU program doing well. It's awesome to beat them in any sport. And well, how much fun would that be if they weren't any good?
