Perhaps only for the fact that these entitled bastards keep all their playoff winnings rather than the typical conference split.Notre Dame lol
Game was much closer than the score indicated. Some chinks in the OSU armour. I think the ND defense will slow down OSU's passing offense and in general kind of stymie them. Not completely but they will be sluggish. ND will have significant trouble moving the ball and in the end probably lose but it will be pretty close. Notre Dame has a pretty good chance in my opinion. Take the 9.5 points every day and twice on Sunday. So I went to bed at halftime when it was clear that Ohio State would win the game as expected. The only question was by how much. In the end two touchdowns...easily covering the 6-point spread. I didn't bet the game but wish I had listened to my brother. He said Ohio State at 6 was the lock of the year.
I see the Bucks open as a 9.5-point favorite over Notre Dame. That's actually a couple points south of what I expected.
Apparently I'm the only guy on the board who will be rooting for the Irish. It's like this: neither Notre Dame nor Notre Dame's refs nor Notre Dame's media commentators nor Notre Dame's conference -- right, they don't have a conference -- has ever screwed us over. The same can't be said for Ohio State and company.
So I'll be rooting for the Irish to pull one out of their hats against Ohio State. It would rank as one of the great upsets in college football history. And it's not going to happen.
Try listening to what OSU's AD, Board of Trustees ( the ONLY people with the power to fire him) and most of the major boosters had to say. Day's job was never in danger. Doesn't matter what happened in the CFP. They all made it clear right after the loss to UM that he wasn't getting fired. You are just repeating what a bunch of internet chuckle****s were saying. People with no idea what is going on in the program or what the University's position is. Once again, those who actually have the power to take action very publicly made it clear Day would be the coach in 2025. ( a buyout north of $30 million also makes his firing a non starter)Again, they needed to make a run. College football is way more cutthroat than your acknowledging at the top and losing to Michigan how they have means way more than you think. They bought Day the team he wanted. They had to win at least 2 games.
Why would I listen to you when you're wrong? I also said losing to Michigan should be a motivator which is why I said Oregon got screwed and I didn't want to be the 1 seed.
I have seen many classless tshirts at games! Some at PSU games. My wife often asks me "what kind of person would wear something like that?" My response, honey even Penn State has classless fans!Precisely. My buddy who I shared season tickets with for more than 40 years texted and asked who I was rooting for. Replied that as much as I normally don’t like OSU, I was rooting for them since I thought they had the best chance to wax ND. I don’t know if any of you saw it but some ND fan was shown wearing a Jesus vs JoePa T shirt in the stands before the game which was one of the most classless things I have ever seen.
We gave OSU a perfect game plan for handling ND!Game was much closer than the score indicated. Some chinks in the OSU armour. Yeah, that was real classy. And an interesting glass house from which to throw stones!Precisely. If O$U plays a B- game, it should be over early. We gave OSU a perfect game plan for handling ND!
Nor does repeating the ramblings of a bunch of whackjobs on the internet with absolutely no connection to the school or any idea of it's inner workings. Simply put. you are 100% wrong. Just what is your connection to the school that you would have inside info that all the public and written statements made publicly and sent to Alums and boosters are a lie and that Day's job was/is in danger? You must have have better information than those of us who are very close to the school. ( I'm a third generation OSU grad who maintains close ties to the school by the way.). My guess is you have none at all and are just pushing the ramblings of idiotic wannabes and trolls. The type off "fans" many Buckeye fans would nothing more than to see disappear. Many of us older fans ( I started school at OSU when Woody Hayes was still coaching) think the fanbase needs a serious culling of the herd.Them saying that doesn't make it true
30M is nothing for a buyout
Again no wrong nor am I repeating anything said by the media. I love these "I have inside info" posts without a clue. Just because you're elderly and believe winning doesn't matter doesn't make it true. The reality is me nor you actually matter. We're not the generation ls they schools need to keep interested. We're not going anywhere until we die.Nor does repeating the ramblings of a bunch of whackjobs on the internet with absolutely no connection to the school or any idea of it's inner workings. Mostly stupid penalties in critical situation. They were hit with 9 penalties amounting to 75 yards and a couple of those 15 yarders were criticalGame was much closer than the score indicated. I never said I have "inside info, just that info that has been actually provided by the school and the people in charge. So just where then are you getting your info that Day's job was in jeopardy and makes you statement true when it's been debunked by anyone that has anything to do with the situation? You must have different information than what OSU officials have all said in interviews and Public statements. The actual OSU media has stated repeatedly that his job wasn't in danger. The ONLY people who have said it it are idiots on Bucknuts and other shitty message boards and some national media ( primarily the morons at ESPiN) who say crap for clicks and views and would have no more idea what is really going on than my dog. So yes, your statement that his job was in danger is completely false unless you can tell us how you came upon such verified information.Again no wrong nor am I repeating anything said by the media. You implied inside information. See, you can't be this stupid. What people say in interviews means nothing. That's why a "vote of confidence" is using considered a death sentence. Especially in college. Everyone close to college football has said it. Everyone at Rivals that is close to Ohio State has said it. It doesn't take a genius to understand that. Just like it doesn't take a genius to understand Mike Tomlin won't be fired even after they lose today though he should me. Notice you're bashing ESPN--typical.I never said I have "inside info, just that info that has been actually provided by the school and the people in charge. Once again you are wrong and here's why. The Athletic Dept and school administration both know that the importance of the OSU/UM rivalry is now extremely diminished. It's no longer important in the grand scheme of things. It will always be important to FANS for bragging rights, but in the current landscape of college football it really doesn't mean anything anymore. Hell, it pains ME to say that, but it's a simple fact. Something I ask younger "fans" ( especially ones who came along since 2000 or so) is WHY has it always been such a huge rivalry? Many can't answer that question. You implied inside information. See, you can't be this stupid. What people say in interviews means nothing. That's why a "vote of confidence" is using considered a death sentence. Especially in college. Everyone close to college football has said it. the statement that he job was in danger was a reality of coaching in 2024 and losing yet again to Michigan--he had to win at least 2 games--he did. Now he's safe. They lose to Tennessee he's not at Ohio State right now.
Oh, I know. I've been coming here for years, and always try to respectful of the fact that I'm visiting someone else's house and not argue with members here. I just have no tolerance for anyone who has no knowledge about a situation claiming they know everything and spreading lies and completely debunked stories.Gmen, let me fill you in on Lando. First, he's never wrong...in his own mind. Second, he's impervious to facts or reason. Third, he'll always have the last word.
So even though you know and I know that Ryan Day's job was never in jeopardy...and there is no evidence whatsoever that it was...and indeed the only evidence available is to the contrary...Lando will continue to insist otherwise.
Having said all this, there's a part of me that sort of likes Lando...for reasons I can't quite explain.
You are debating with some one that has posting privileges at his mental hospital.Oh, I know. My apologies to other members here if I overstepped my bounds.
Talking about yourself again? You are debating with some one that has posting privileges at his mental hospital.
Jesus vs Joe Pa. Seriously? Notre Dame - the alleged Catholic school that had Obama speak on their campus. Yes, that Obama the one who celebrates abortion. Notre Dame is a disgrace to devout Irish Catholics and mocks Jesus. God will not be mocked.
Sorry, not trying to make a political statement at all. My point was solely religious. This event was high profile, and many Catholics will remember what an affront it was to our religion and our beliefs to allow this person to speak on Notre Dame's campus. It just fully demonstrated for all the world to see that ND had turned its back on its Catholic heritage.OK, let's please leave politics out of this. That belongs on the other board.
That said, you're right on the religion angle. There are some outstanding orthodox Catholic scholars at Notre Dame but institutionally the school has turned its back on its religious heritage.
In fact, it's an interesting coincidence that right around the same time the university abandoned its commitment to faith, the football program lost its magic...and despite some decent years has never recaptured it.
It was the kind of magic that in a different day and age would have given the Irish a fighting chance against heavy favorite Ohio State on January 20. Now prepare for a curb-stomping. There are no more echoes to wake up at Notre Dame.

Joe was the epitome of class, and while I think CJF is a good man, I think we can all be honest that there's a degree of trash-talking around this program that makes it hard for us to claim the high ground over ND for something like this.
The "no fly zone" gesturing, as one of many examples. This was apparently the 2024 taunt -- ironic, because our secondary got lit up in big moments when it mattered. Last year it was Kalen King talking shit about Marvin Harrison Jr. The infamous "turnover card" that we unveiled @ IU in 2020 before melting down and losing that game. Showing up in pregame warmups without shirts to intimidate the other team. The non-stop running of the mouth. That seems to be a big part of this team's identity -- at least on defense. Abdul Carter with his "Dark Vader" schtick. Damn, Abdul.......have you seen Star Wars? Doesn't end up well for Darth.
So, some ND fans wearing stupid t-shirts was the least of our problems

Call me a liar if you want Illinois, but I have no interest in politics. You missed my point completely, so let me be clear. It had nothing to do with Penn St and everything to do with Notre Dame and its representation of Catholicism. In particular, many Notre Dame fans and non-Catholics may see Notre Dame as representing Catholic values. My point - no it doesn't!Of course it was a political statement. LOL.

That's all good Jerry. It is up to each of us including these 2 gentlemen to bring the message of salvation to all. AMEN!Well if it's any consolation to you, here's two separate statements from their quarterback and their coach who, by the way, is a convert to Catholicism. Inspiring...but not enough to take down Ohio State:
