While colleges can facilitate NIL deals, they are still signed between the athlete and organization, not the university. The students are not required to report deals to the universities.

Yep... Downright brilliant. It leaves all universities and conferences off the hook. Does that trickle down to the NCAA?

Make all NIL deals through the team. They are using the team's name and likeness. The NCAA can ban payments directly to players. If not, drop all NCAA sports. We will survive without them.

"We will survive without them" Not likely. Revenue producing sports will survive. The other 90% will be gone.

Consider the affect of NIL. Some players may be very over valued. Since the NCAA is now a professional league, they can legally require all mmembers to publish a payroll. We should know what every NIL deal is in $.

Are Football Coaches over valued? What other profession pays coaches millions of dollars in compensation and then pay double digit millions in buyouts when they are fired? Even worse, the same fired coaches soon get another job for more millions at another University. Talk about a racket.

The NCAA is a toothless and incompetent entity with virtually little real power. The power base resides with the B1G and SEC.

Good luck finding any collection of Universities who are willing to turn down a billion dollars in TV revenue. They won’t because greed and money rules.

Universities right now can just report the publicly available NIL numbers, and that inflated number, that also ignores any attached performance conditions, is often higher than the real thing. Win-win for the universities.
