Essentially Sports? You've been had.

False. Other sources still have him turning 20 before his freshman class starts college and nobody has even disputed that.

ElJaffe keeps citing PIAA rules about turning 19 before June 30th. Basset turns 19 Aug as a JUNIOR which still makes him 20 when he would normally enroll in college.

And this says he just turned 18 last month.

Essentially Sports is essentially garbage. You got got.

Edit: Any time I post I always ask myself the same question before hitting the button. "Am I about to post a reference to an Essentially Sports article?" If the answer is yes, my left hand knows to slap the mouse out of my right hand before I can click.

This really sums up the state of PSU and Iowa's respective programs right now. In the dual last week, Iowa had 6 of these guys in their lineup (Teemer, Kennedy, Ayala, Cruz, Kueter, Ferrari) and PSU had 8 (Kerkvliet, Starocci, Bartlett, SVN, Haines, Barr, Kasak, Lilledahl).

The Iowa top 10 recruits were 1-5 with one win vs a JV wrestling up. The PSU top 10 recruits were 7-1 with one loss by a freshman against a #1 ranked senior.

I'm not too concerned about losing one recruit to them. LOL.
i had Joey Cruz #52 fwiw.

This was the dual and my final BB ranking
125: #1-Luke vs. #52-Cruz
133: #4-Drake vs. #37-McHenry
141: #7-BB vs #57-Schriever
149: #5-SVN vs. #71-Parco
157: #9-Kasak vs. #8-Teemer
165: don't worry about it vs. #73-Caliendo
174: #7-Levi vs #4-Kennedy
184: #9-Starocci vs. #7-Angelo
197: #4-Barr vs HM-Buchanan
285: #1-Kerk vs #6-Kueter

Angelo at 7?

If you look at those big boards..here's the winners per year (so far) based on NCAA Titles/best placings..

1. 2016 Suriano 2 titles
2. 2017 Yianni 4 titles
3. 2018 Brooks 4 titles
4. 2019 Starocci 4 titles
5. 2020 O'Toole 2 titles
6. 2021 Figueroa 1 title
7. 2022 Haines 1 title/1 2nd edging out Mendez 1 title 1 5th
8. 2023 Welsh 2nd
We win titles with a lot of #9’s and the number of wrestlers on those lists that virtually disappeared in college should remind people that our recruiting class this year will keep our dynasty flames burning. It IS coaching and talent. It isnt just talent.

yeah, i didn't know what to make of him

he wrestled about 6 matches in two years and there was a circus around his family at the time.
He’s still got the cluster B genes in there somewhere. If you’re ramping his potential career prospects, you have to build in the meltdown risk.

Willie. I agree whole heatedly that each and every Iowa wrestler would have wrestled better had they been coached up by Cael.
