Last night I caught the first half of the tOSU v Indiana game, and I started to get worried.
tOSU screwed the B1G with its performance in the final 4 last season, and I texted my buddy who's an tOSU alum and warned him that tOSU better not screw the B1G in its very first game. The conundrum that I have (which others have expressed on here) is that I have to basically root for teams like Mich and Ohio State to be undefeated coming up to their games against PSU. Likewise, if you're a UM or tOSU fan, you have to root for PSU because you want those wins to mean more for purposes of getting into one of the top 4 spots at the end of the season. OSU losing last night would've been bad for the conference (we don't play Wisconsin this year and Iowa remains merely a darkhorse). So PSU beating a tOSU ranked #18 (because it lost to OK and Indiana) would not help PSU. Just my thoughts.
However, I just looked over the upcoming games for this weekend, and hopefully this weekend will bode well for the B1G and (more importantly) PSU's ranking (if you follow that stuff).
Going by AP rankings, we have:
#16 Louisville at Purdue
#11 Michigan at #17 Florida
Maryland at #23 Texas
#8 Washington at Rutgers
Also have:
#3 FSU at #1 Bama
Western MI at #4 USC (their tight end is listed as only probable)
Would be good for PSU if the B1G teams pull off a couple of upsets and set a commanding presence for conference strength going forward (e.g. UM beating FL, MD picking off TX, etc.)
Just something to think about when you're channel surfing through games.
