And for me as well. The Chairman would not even tolerate people around him wearing brown shoes, let alone wear them himself. That's good enough for me.

HAA! Other than perhaps a soccer question, I cannot think of anything which is more distant from my interests than this poll/post. That said, I will offer this advice--if you looked like those male models, it would not matter whether you worse shoes at all.Spent way too much money upgrading the wardrobe. Dude at the store convinced me that the only time you wear black shoes is at a wedding or a funeral today. Brown shoes with navy, gray, and all other colors are the look of today. That caused me to get brown shoes & belt along with new flat front pants with no cuffs. Two jackets, three pairs of pants, a half dozen shirts (not to mention now I have to coordinate sock colors with my shirt or tie, not the shoes or pants) and I walk out a heck of a lot lighter then when I walked in.
In my business, I have noticed that almost all the guys wear brown shoes. Also, watching shows like NFL pre/post games, they all wear brown shoes. Although, I still see lots of dudes with the blacks too, but that seems out of style.
What say you?
Thought I better check in. I have a gray microcheck shirt on with a dark gray tie, black, plain front slacks, and black shoes. Is this O.K. or not? I can provide additional details if necessary to form an opinion.
I am sticking with black shoes for dark and grey colored slacks, and brown shoes for khakis, brown and light green slacks.
Ha! I'm at work. I had to look up ban-lon because I have no idea what it is. Just for the record the shirt is Charles Tyrwhitt, 100% cotton, spread collar, button cuff, no-iron microcheck. I just can't see pairing brown shoes with black slacks. Seems unnatural to me. What color belt do you wear with black slacks and brown shoes?are you at a wedding or a funeral? If not, nada on the black shoes. Also have to ask, is that a banlon shirt you are wearning?

Obli,
While we're at it, when are French cuffs appropriate. I am seeing them more and more in less formal setting, but they seem too formal for my workplace. Good for everyday office wear or not?
Most things look spiffy on young, hip, trim model types . . . a far sight different on those of us who are not as young, hip, or trimNever liked Brown shoes but they look kinda spiffy in the above photos
