BOB to Maryland?

O'Brien will be coaching the Texans next year. The GM may be looking for a job. The Texans need a franchise QB--those are hard to find--and they need Clowney to be healthy.

JMO but I think Clowney is waaayyyy over rated. His claim to fame came on a bowl game play where the Michy
O-lineman didn't block him.

I don't know who is to blame for the QB situation in Houston. OB or the GM. They probably could have gotten Bortles. They had Ryan Fitzpatrick and let him go, they took Mallet, they drafted Savage and have done nothing with him, They probably should have tried for McGloin, he's better than anything they currently have.
Bottom line, I don't think OB is the QB whisperer many think he is.

When BOB was referring to Paterno people, he wasn't referring to people who admired Joe, but the hypercritical subset of our fanbase that insists on comparing his every move to that of Paterno.

BOB took the job and was told that there would be no sanctions. Sanctions end up being imposed, and our admin simply takes it on the chin. He stays and guides our team to back-to-back winning seasons despite the worst sanctions since SMU. His dream was to coach in the NFL, and he has an opportunity to go to a franchise with the #1 pick, which already had a lot of talented players on defense.

Yes, he threw his weight around to get more money. Just like Joe utilized his power and influence to negotiate raises for his staff and keep his unqualified son entrenched in important program jobs for over a decade.

I like O'brien, but if his agent let this get out it is suicide for his current NFL coaching career. There is one thing using leverage when you are winning, but if you are losing the GM will say see you later. I will be surprised if O'brien gets back into college. The recruiting and kissing ass aspect seemed to be too much for him

Sort of disingenuous for O'Brien to claim that he had no inkling of the possibility of sanctions. On the day he signed his contract, he also signed a side letter automatically extending said contract in the event that sanctions were handed down.

Furthermore anyone with half a brain would understand that a coach succeeding a legend would frequently be compared to his predecessor, often negatively even if unwarranted. Happened at Oklahoma, Texas, Alabama and more places I'm sure. Guess O'Brien simply didn't have it in him to deflect those comparisons

O'Brien doesn't work for the Texans' GM, he works for the owner. And if you don't think that this is part of a power play by him and his agent, think again.

Any number of people in the NFL wonder why Rick Smith still has a job. Guess we'll see just how much McNair really like him.

Oh I definitely think it's a power play, but I don't think it's a very wise one for how his NFL head coaching career has started.

I'm not sure if you guys remember, but at the time....people weren't lining up to take the job. O'Brien was the best resume' we were getting. I wouldn't want him back. I don't think he is a college guy. However, I don't dislike the man. He did what he was paid to do. Nothing more nothing less.

Welcome to big time sports. That is the way it is. Now Bob is dealing with the BumPhillipsBots and he is looking for another exit strategy. He is already leaking stories to the press that he is interested in the UMD job.

Bob needs to look in the mirror.

Can I get a refresher on why BOB is hated here? I thought he was really stupid to leave, no doubt.

But that's his choice and now he's probably regretting it.

Because one tenth of one percent of the fans did not kiss his butt. Now he is in HOuston and 50% want to fire him.
