Steelers are a bizarre and unpredictable lot. Always have been. When they play a lousy team, they play lousy. And when everyone writes them off with no chance of winning.....they go on a winning streak.

Frankly, it's the same reason the nation hasn't shifted focus to therapeutics, which don't provide the mechanism for government control.

-Monoclonal antibodies are actively being withheld despite their tremendous effectiveness, and fact that, to my knowledge, have not caused any adverse side-effects, unlike vaccines. We also hear almost nothing about them from Fauci or the corporate media. Why?
-Ivermectin, which has been shown to reduce viral replication, and so is effective as a treatment when given early in an infection. It is also incredibly safe, with fewer than 30 adverse reactions reported after 4 BILLION doses. It was created decades ago as a treatment for River Blindness in Africa. Despite this, CNN outright lied, and defamed Joe Rogan by saying he took a "Horse Dewormer," and doubled down when challenged. Rachel Maddow over on MSNBC tweeted a story that OK hospitals were overwhelmed because tey were full from people overdosing on ivermectin, "a horse-dewormer". Let me repeat that 30 people EVER, have had an adverse reaction to ivermectin. Why would Rachel Maddow be invested in defaming ivermectin?
Further, the fact that the smart people are not talking about natural immunity gained from a COVID infection is criminal, and is the most obvious indicator of motivation. Never before has a vaccine been recommended for people that have survived a disease. If you accept the idea of needing a vax card to go places, the staunch opposition to allowing confirmation of antibodies is anti-medicine. Fauci is not "the science" but natual immunity literally is and ignoring it is very anti-science. Why?

After the end of a COVID pandemic, people are now suggesting that getting vaccinated for a disease that we've been living with for well over a 100 years is something that should become a social focus, and perhaps another stick to beat people over the head with.

I agree with you. However, listening to the local sports talk this morning, Austin Hooper has a Friday morning bit he does. The announcers said that Hooper canceled today's bit because he was 'feeling too sick to have the call'. Having said that, there is a lot of activity. As I understand it, the NFL tested the players again yesterday afternoon. The NFL is considering adjusting their policy to let players play sooner after a positive test in alignment with newer information on the virus since the current policy has been in place. The Union has released some very harsh statements against the NFL stating that a) they don't care about player safety (can't play with only 20 players without adding risk to players getting hurt because many are simply unprepared to play in an NFL game) and b) their policies are out of date and they aren't working with anyone to update them. My point is that Hooper may well want to keep quiet until these issues sort themselves out. BTW, the top player rep, Wyatt Teller, is a Browns starting LG.

The question is why anyone that asks legitimate questions or seeks to have a discussion is shut down and called names to discredit them. I provided real examples of the media outright lying and the govt/media completely ignoring pertinent items, but you focus on ivermectin. Why are you more concerned about Joe Rogan's experience with a very safe human pharmaceutical, that is clinically shown to slow viral replication, than you are with CNN and MSNBC outright lying about it being "horse medicine" and people overdosing. These topics are pertinent on this board becuase they impacts football in a stupid and illogical way. We have a bunch of extremely healthy people without symptoms and almost ZERO risk of bad outcomes from COVID being held out of games because they might transmit covid to other extremely healthy people almost ZERO risk of bad outcomes from COVID. Players in all sports who have recovered from COVID, and therefore, necessarily have natural immunity, are being prevented from playing without being vaccinated, despite there being ZERO efficacy, and some indication that vaccine-injury is more likely in people who have already recovered. But, ignore me, just keep on "sciencing" over there.

The vigor with which HCQ and IVM were opposed, despite being perfectly safe for decades, exposes, without dispute, the political motivations of Fauci/bureaucracy.
Even if the effectiveness of rheee drugs was zero (which it is not), the response of an honest scientist would be: “Hey, I think it won’t work at all, but if you want to take a sugar pill,to treat Covid, knock yourself out”
The reaction was because the media wanted people to believe that individuals were taking HCQ and IVM instead of getting vaccinated. And once they put that idea out there the CDC came down hard on both.
The correct response would have been to say that while both are safe, both are untested and should not impact the decision to get vaccinated in any way.
Instead, the hard handed approach put people who were willing to read research and who understood the relatively low risk of Covid to 99.9 percent of the population into an anti vax group as they dug in their heels.
Let's always recall a few things.
1. Masks are to slow down the spread. If everyone is getting Omicron then why are we wearing masks? It's forgone everyone gets it. Hospitals arent full.
2. The point of getting everyone vaccinated was to somehow beat the disease. That is pretty much a joke at this point given vaccinated people are getting positive tests just like unvaccinated.
3. It is truly necessary for the CDC and especially Fauci to stop with the world is ending BS and create a more practical argument for vaccination. 'It's safe, and really all it does is lower your chance of death. But isn't that a good thing?" That would go way further than anything they have said so far.
4. As I have stated since last April. Everyone will get Covid. Some will Die. Most will never know they had it.
5. Currently covid deaths match very closely to pneumonia deaths. Pneumonia is really an end of life disease for sick and elderly. That's what Covid is as well. Yes, there are always anecdotal stories of someone who was healthy and died. But that's true of every disease.

this is an interesting article that is fairly complex in how the NFL has been testing players. It appears that the NFL has changed their policy, at least this week for teams with outbreaks. It really shows how we are continuing with processes informed by data that is a year or more old. Policies have not been changed based on more recent discoveries.

Nailed it. The afraid among us seem to be under some impression that they can avoid covid forever, which as you note, was never on the table. Somehow, "slow the spread" morphed into people thinking they could avoid infection permanently. If Omicron is truly more transmissible and less severe than the other variants that that is the epidemiologial goal to move from pandemic to endemic and there should be no effort to "slow the spread."
When people are honest and we look at the true stats a few things come to light.
In many places, the average age of the deceased is above life expectancy.
When you look at deaths in a normal year vs the pandemic, I think the delta is about 20%. So while not insignificant, it makes the true impact of COVID, as a matter for public policy decisions, far smaller than it is being presented with the death tickers on the news and 24hr news cycle of endless fear porn.
Something else to keep in mind as we watch the news. Notice that Fauci and the CDC and Biden never discuss what the goal is of their policies. What are we trying to accomplish? What will signify success? Zero COVID? It's never talked about? Why? Because then there is something they could be held to, measured against, and something that would end this.
I thought I heard the league and union agreed to new protocols which permitted vaccinated players who tested positive but were asymptomatic to return sooner. Maybe I was mistaken.
I tried to reply to your message in a logical sense as I am a person with a strong respect for science. Maybe a little malaria medication (hydroxychoroquine) or some light directed inside the body or a little shot of Lysol might be a better remedy for the pandemic. I have a father who is 91 years old and I don't want him to die because someone is afraid of proven FDA and CDC approved vaccines and will allow variants to continue to mutate. Given your "freedom of choice" and rights, we would still have smallpox, tuberculosis, and polio as current threats to our society.
