Both the Mustipher spot & Nix IG were reviewable plays & the Field Officials calls were beyond questionable....

....but neither was reviewed by Booth, which is utterly inexplicable given what the video clearly shows on both plays. Just inexplicable how you can't Review these plays. The video clearly demonstrates both were horrendously bad calls by the Field Officials.

On the Mustipher run, the announcers are 100% agreement, as is ABC's Rules Expert, that the controlling factor on Review is the location of the ball at the sound of the Whistle. All are 100% in agreement that Mustipher is well past the "Line-to-Gain" - by a couple yards - when the whistle is blown. The Field Officials marked the ball at least 3 yards behind where Mustipher was when the Whistle blew - no review!?!? Inexplicable, just utterly inexplicable how that absurd spot cannot be reviewed is just insane as al the Commentators and Rules Expert were unanimous in stating (but the Review Booth Officials were unable to see what everyone else clearly saw - the Official marking the ball more than 3 yards behind the spot of the ball at the sound of the whistle making the ball dead. No Review??? Beyond absurd.

On the Nix IG, the Field Official announces no IG because "Passer was OUTSIDE Tackle Box" - this statement is clearly contradicted by clear video evidence as Nix very clearly NEVER moves OUTSIDE the "Tackle Box" created on the left-side by the LT's Outside (i.e., left) Shoulder. Again, video very clearly demonstrates that Nix does not move outside the perpendicular line with LT's outside (i.e., left) shoulder running parallel with sideline (in this case, it was just outside the left hash-mark as the spot was skewed to left-side of field). Nix doesn't come remotely close to clearing even the hash-mark before launching the ball 10 rows deep in the crowd!!! IOW, the video very clearly contradicts what the Referee claims on his explanation (i.e., Passer had moved OUTSIDE Tackle Box before throwing ball away) - no Review!?!? Again, utterly inexplicable how that play cannot be called in for Review given how the Referee's explanation is in such contradiction with the video. Just absurd.

Agreed. The zebras flat out robbed us of a possession on Auburn's side of the field at a critical time in the game after Mustipher clearly made the first down before the whistle blew.

But it's also inexplicable that at any level above middle school football, officials could lose track of downs. And on that same series that they could call intentional grounding on a broken route where the QB is not even under serious pressure. I've honestly never seen that before.

It's hard not to be paranoid after watching shit like this go down for the last 28 years, typically at the hands of the Big Suck. Still, it all would have been a lot harder to take if we had lost the game.

On the other side of the ledger, there were two critical things the refs got right in the last few minutes of the game. One was the non-call on Brisker on the 4th-down fade into the end zone. In fact, that was offensive interference. But if the opponent were Ohio State and it were Big Suck zebras, guaranteed Jaquan would have been flagged.

The second was the defensive pass interference that gave us some breathing room and an extra set of downs on our last offensive series. Jahan Dotson was mugged on that throw by an Auburn defender not playing the ball, and it was absolutely the right call.

At any rate, is it too much to ask that a big game not be influenced by incompetence or bias on the part of refs? Apparently so.

Was the replay booth a Big 10 crew? Or were they both SEC officials.

They hosed us pretty good, enough that it seemed like a clear bias.

I consider us lucky they made the right call (or no-call) on several other plays, which surely would have turned the game in Auburn's favor:
  • The PI call on our last offensive series as we were getting some breathing room
  • The no-PI calls on Auburn's last two series (corner fade, final play of the game)

That Intentional Grounding call is not reviewable.

It is Reviewable, I've witnessed double-digit situations in games where no flag was thrown on play, but a Flag was thrown AFTER Booth Review. In fact this situation was called on PSU last year in a b1g game (can't remember which one) - no flag throw on play but Penalty, and flag, thrown after Booth Review.

You're wrong (regardless of what your memory seems to believe). Regardless of how bad the call may have been, it's not a reviewable play.

In the beginning of the game there was a threat slash by one of the Auburn defensive players. That is 15 yd. penalty for taunting.

An Auburn player also stood over a PSU player while on ground jawing at him which is also an Automatic PF - Insportsmanlike Conduct.... but not yesterday with the SEC Crew.

Non call on Brisker? Hell it was OPI if anything

The only thing that is utterly inexplicable (i.e. mysterious) is your insane (i.e demented, crazed, maniacal) fixation on the officiating after every single Penn State game - win or lose (i.e it doesn't matter the outcome of the game). You are enraged with the officiating and sometimes you are correct (i.e your opinions are accurate based upon the evidence) and sometimes you are incorrect (i.e your opinions are complete bull$hit that are totally contradicted by the video evidence and/or the rule book).
