Nebraska approaching 300 yards on the ground, and their passing game is going great guns as well..... Announcers are trying to make excuses for UCLA.....

His D got shredded a lot this year.. I love Tom and have a lot of respect for him, but wonder if his D isn't up to par with the type of offenses teams run now a days?

Why do people feel the need to post without taking 5 SECONDS to do a google search? If you had, you would learn that UCLA's defense has been absolutely obliterated with lost players this year, including the guy their entire defense was built around and possibly the best defensive player in the country. There is no DC in the world that could have done more. In fact, their defense played better than any UCLA defense in recent history in a whole host of categories. The improvement from last year, despite the crazy amount of injuries, was absolutely incredible. Bradley is a big part of that improvement.

All of that notwithstanding, Nebraska has scored a LOT of points on some really good defenses this year. Once again, people look at their record without having watched a single game. Keep in mind they score 39 points on MSU. I for one am very very glad we didn't see them this year.

There is not a linebacker or D-lineman on UCLA that would see playing time on a BIG team.
Scrap didn't recruit them. He's dealing with injuries and lack of players. Schemes mean very little when dealt this hand. Look at Nebraska's schedule and note that their only bad loss was without their QB.
They played Iowa tough to the end and beat Michigan State.

Do you think our defense was that good this year? We got our stats against cup cakes, same as last year. We got hosed by OSU, Mich, Mich St, and even NW put up almost 400 yards against us. Look at the points Maryland scored against us. Last year in the Pinstripe Bowl we gave up almost 300 yards rushing to BC!!! Take away that 75 yard run by Lynch and we ran for about "15 yards" against BC.

Our defensive stats was based on what we did against cup cakes. When we played a team with a real offense, we got beat, plain and simple. We will see how good our defense is against a mid-level SEC team in Georgia. If we can keep them under 400 yards, then we have a chance, but our defensive play against descent teams has been sub-par for the past two years!

Because some love to frame things in a way that make the Paterno era coaches, etc. look bad.

UCLA ranked 13, 8, 18 and 13 in Rivals recruiting rankings for the last four years. I dunno, maybe all the talent was on offense.

Because most of us don't care. TB is a great guy and will always be a Penn Stater, but he is gone from here. IMO Shoop is a better fit right now.

I also know they have injuries, but so do a lot of teams. So that excuse is o over used.

I agree our D is a little bit over rated. They did pretty well this year mostly because of the D line but kinda craped themselves against good competition. I think our LBs are ok, though this team really needs a couple blue collar, hard nosed LBs like Poz and Lee to get to the elite level. I like Shoop's aggressive style of defense but it hasn't really work well against the big boys. PSU gave up 300 +yds rushing against OSU, that's pretty bad. I think couple fundamentally sound tackling machines at the LB position can change that.

Who cares about UCLA and their coaches? This is a PSU fan site!

I agree to a point but when a team is coming off sanctions and is already thin to very thin in spots its def. a legitimate excuse.

A real test for Shoop will be this coming year. All of the top DL talent is gone. The LBs thus far (I know injuries a factor) are not very "athletic". The secondary "should" be decent. But, I really think we will have to have a much better offense to compete next year.

Bradley's name is right in the post title so if you don't want to read about a former PSU player and former long time PSU coach why did you read it?

Just to cry like a baby????
