I have always really liked Tom Izzo a lot not only because he is a great basketball coach but because from the outside he seems like a great guy. I am not judging him personally in any way but it does make it much easier to root for another Central PA basketball team. Bucknell is an awesome little campus and after Flannery they have kept a good program pretty much in stride which is wild because he is a really great coach too. So for once I won't be rooting for MSU even though that is going to kill my brackets.

And here I thought I was going to read that Bucknell won in OT. Feel free to do so later.

Yeah, Bucknell winning in OT works for me.

My great aunt lived a block from campus in Lewisburg. I’d often visit her on a Sunday after a football Sat in State College. She was truly a great lady, lived to be 105.

I’ve only smiled once after a KU tournament loss.....it was when Bucknell upset them several years ago.

I see where Penn State went wrong...we didn’t get Joe to wear a teal ribbon like Izzo and MSU are doing. That’s the ticket...slap on a ribbon and call it fixed.

Just like that...23-12 MSU becomes 28-27 Bucknell.

Seems like there is a heck of a lot of people rooting for Bucknell in Detroit.

I only see Bucknell when they play PSU or when they are in the dance, but it seems like they always have a blue collar big man that can score with his back to the basket. PSU currently has Watkins but as often as not we've relied on kids like Moore, Jack, Dickerson, and Travis. Why can Bucknell get those guys and not PSU? Maybe Harrar will develop into that type of player in the next few years.

I wonder if we should start scheduling Bucknell again. Seems like they make it to the dance pretty regularly. If we beat them and they end up in the tourney, wouldn’t that look like a quality win for us?

Definitely. They have been well coached for a long time. The name might look like a bad loss to casual fans but most people know they know they have a good program.

Flannery could have done well anywhere I think. Sucks that he had the health issues.

The zebras aren’t being very kind to Bucknell tonight. Or very fair.

EDIT:

The officials let MSU turn this into a second half mugfest, no way was Bucknell going to have a chance tonight. Worst officiated game of the tournament so far.

Bucknell was pretty bush league at the end with all the fouling to stop the clock. The game was over, let the clock run out.

Do you ever watch a sporting event and not complain about the officiating? I bet you're a hoot at the games.

So did you watch the entire game tonight like I did? I’ve pretty much watched games non-stop yesterday and today and while there were a few bad calls, for the most part the officials have done a very good job. Tonight they were awful.

Nate, probably my first officiating observations in at least a month. And yeah, I watch games maybe a little differently having played and then officiated both baseball and basketball for many years here in Illinois.

All I’m asking (and expecting) is that the game is called the same way for each team.....and the officials make the same call (or non-call) for 40 minutes. Should not be too much to ask for.

And I’ll be the first to admit the game is getting tougher and tougher to officiate. The game is faster, the players much more physical. It’s borderline out of control.

Bucknell narrowed the gap to 4 points. A couple weeks ago they were down by 9 with 20 seconds left and won the game. But they should just roll it up and give the game to MSU tonight? Seriously.

MSU got chippy because they played a terrible game and were afraid they were going to lose to a large underdog. BU's best player was tossed on a bad technical. Izzo is not happy tonight. He needs to win this year.

Nate Sestina was the 6-8 forward (#4) for BU tonight. He is a soph from tiny little Emporium. No one else gave him a look but Bucknell found him.

When you’re down 8 with 10 seconds left, yeah you roll it up. But even if you don’t at that point, when you’re down 5 with four seconds left, yeah you roll it up...you don’t foul again. Bush league.
