He actually did tech Gross last year, I think. I'd say typically guys do better against gross the more feel they get from him, so his win this year was pretty notable. It may not be HEW, but lately Stillwater sure doesn't seem to be the fertile environment for development it has been known for, and all the distractions have surely taken a toll on the entire system.

People forget that Mendez greatly benefited from a controversial call that put him way ahead. Gross thought he scored a 4 pointer and I tend to agree, but Mendez ended up getting the 4 points. 8 point swing on controversial call. So I don't think Gross and Mendez are at the same level. I'd expect Gross to dominate in a rematch.
