I am not a Suburu guy or even a mechanic. I work on my own cars (Honda's). I am a firm believer in YouTube. A quick search of YouTube came up with this video. It might help. It looks like you have a flashing trouble code. If you decode the diagnostic code you will find out exactly what is wrong. Good Luck.

Instructions on paper-
1. warm up engine/ bring to normal operating temperature
2. Turn ignition switch off.
3. turn ignition switch on
4. Start Engine
5. Drive car faster than 12 miles per hour ( hes around block- not sure amount of time required at this speed
6. stop vehicle
7. depress brake pedal ( hold during following sequence steps 8-14)
8. shift to first gear
9-10- turn ignition switch off, then turn back on. He says you don't turn off Engine.
11. Shift to 2nd gear
12. shift to 1st gear
13.shift to 3rd gear
14. shift to "D", Drive gear At this point watch the at oil temp light flashing .
It will tell you the trouble code. slow/ long flashes denote "tens", fast flashes are signal digits. Example- ==slow-flash (1)== then -fast flash-fast flash-fast flash-(3) = 10 + 3 = trouble code of 13. once you have your code, go to google, type in "AT oil temp light flashing fix" it will give you DTC Diagnostic trouble code /code problems. Video he referenced , or at least the creator : Also- the forum site with the instructions: https://www.subaruforester.org/threads/at-temp-light-flashing-how-to-read-code.237225/

4. Get battery checked as the draw down at start up may have thrown a false code. I've seen Volkswagen dash lights go bezerk with a low battery. Most auto part stores do this for free as well as run a free diagnostic test.Assuming you mean "at" oil temp, which means your automatic trans fluid is running hot. Shouldn't happen at start up. Potential causes:
1. your fluid level is perilously low. Check it.
2. your ATF is simply worn out. Recommended change of ATF is at 100k miles. For the light to go on immediately you'd have had to put on well beyond that without a change.
3. there is a fault with the system monitoring your ATF temperature. Usual culprit is a corroded or smashed (have you recently had any major service done on your engine?) wire or a blown sensor. Can be diagnosed with an advanced OBD-II reader or take it into the shop.
You should try not to drive the car until you can get it in somewhere. It can be a small problem/false alarm but if you are losing transmission fluid that can be quite serious if you keep running it. If you have a dipstick for your ATF you should check it, if it is not low you can probably breathe easier but you should still get it into a shop quickly just in case.I have a 2017 Subaru legacy started car this morning and act oil temp light began flashing no problem with car for quite awhile. I had a diesel VW that the glowplug light would flash, brake lights not work, all over an issue with cruise control that was a recall.4. 1.Dude, the CVT is a sealed unit ... good luck finding a dipstick for the tranny 😆
2. He does not have an automatic transmission... it’s a CVT and you just don’t change the tranny fluid in a CVT , you simply throw the entire unit in the landfill
3. Heh heh an OBD-II won’t pick that up
Put a piece of tape over the light.I have a 2017 Subaru legacy started car this morning and act oil temp light began flashing no problem with car for quite awhile. Any suggestions,? Thankd

have you checked the oil level? I’ve heard Subarus can consume oil, I guess a characteristic of a boxer engine.
Or the new OP is an ass and just screwing with us.believe the OP was referring to the “AT Oil Temp” light , which has no correlation to the crankcase oil
How many miles are on it and have you had all recommended service done yet? I have a 2016 Subaru Legacy. Haven't seen that issue yet.I have a 2017 Subaru legacy started car this morning and act oil temp light began flashing no problem with car for quite awhile. Any suggestions,? Thankd
