for Brandon Moss.

Hmmmmm.....might be bad news wrt Holliday's injury.

Kaminsky, the kid they gave up, is pitching really well in High A ball.....just two years after being drafted (1st Round) out of high school.

The Cardinals have about the best farm system in baseball. That's going all the way back to Branch Rickey. They can usually afford to part with a piece. Remember, this is the franchise that let Albert Pujols go, then won the World Series without him. They are, to me, the best franchise in the National League.

The Cards need help and they know it. They cannot shake the Pirates, despite their lofty record. The Bucs are only 4 back in the loss column. It's just like in Butch Cassidy...the Cards keep looking over their shoulders and saying "Who are those guys?"

Crazy that the Pirates could win 96 games and yet still have to play a single play-in game to make it to the real playoffs.

For now.....but not for long.

Holiday is most likely out for the season...Cards need a bat... Moss will play some 1st base to spell Reynolds and most likely be a dh for games with AL.
Cards have lots of young pitchers...look for Gonzales to come back and they have Cooney and Lyons. Also their #1 minor league prospect is a pitcher (name escapes me, but from what I hear he is a Wacha clone) who played in the futures game. They will not part with this guy.
I would think they are not done yet...look for Cards to a big name player either now or through waivers after the trade deadline.

With Moss and Reynolds there should be plenty of wind to cool off the patrons from the sweltering heat in St. Loiue
