Cassar out for the year

Sucks for him and the team... will be interesting to see how cael approaches it now.. having pulled Brooks' ship.. you gotta think he will still go all in to win it in March..

Wow..sucks to finally hear it officially about Anthony. What an amazing story for this kid and wish him nothing but the best.

Conel..everyone will remember his magical run a couple years ago and even though he wasn't on our team he played a big part of that championship. He didn't seem right this year for us, age, injuries, conditioning..whatever it was I'm at least happy he got a shot to wrestle for the best college team on the planet. Wish him the best.

Seth--what an opportunity to go out, do your best and make a name for yourself kid!

Shak--hopefully he is back and ready to dominate these last few months!

This is the first time, I feel we an underdog going into 2nd half of season (other than the redshirt year), and I LOVE it!! Still the champs until someone takes it from us!! Go get it boys!!!

focusing on olympic trials. guess he thinks it's easier to finish top 2 at the last chance qualifier than to win NCAAs. i agree with him.

Stinks for Cassar and Conel. Both great inspirations.

Glad to hear Shak will be returning and Seth gets his shot at shutting up the nay sayers.

I wish Shak and Snacks a healthy successful season moving forward. Stay grateful, have fun, and score points!
Shak in the line-up was always part of the plan right? I would think by cutting Brooks loose and the fact that Conol didn't exactly meet expectations, you have to think that injury or no, Shak was wrestling in march right?

I don't know the plan. But I'd say the plan was if Conel didn't suffer an injury Shak was going to go 184 and Brooks RS would be preserved. I think Conel not meeting expectations was not overly concerning since March was the ultimate goal.

I trust in Cael

Last year's team will always hold special memories for me, and Anthony was a huge part of that.

I was lucky enough to watch a handful of matches live last year, with my Dad, a couple of months before he passed. We had an incredible time watching Anthony last year - what a fantastic year he had.

While I feel really bad for Anthony, I hope he can take satisfaction knowing he put on an incredible show for the fans, and his season will leave great and lasting memories. Best of luck in your future Anthony!

Man this sucks. I feel for Cassar and hope he rebounds and can make a successful transition to MMA when he’s ready. Big Snacks it’s your turn...tune out the noise and stay focused big guy. Rasheed will be ok at 97 assuming that knee is good to go. Hope to see him wrestle soon. Brooks will be fine at 84 and I would not be surprised, depending on seeding at NCAA’s, to see him in the finals.

Thank you to both athletes. I wish them both the best of luck in their futures, and will continue to follow them in wrestling-centric or combat sport manners.

AND IF YOU'RE ONE OF THOSE NANCIES WHO THINKS THAT WE'RE "OUT OF THE RACE" NOW WITH NEVILLS AND RASHEED IN/BACK IN THE LINEUP, YOU BETTER CHANGE YOUR DAMN TUNE OR PLAY YOUR INSTRUMENT SOMEWHERE ELSE. THIS TEAM CAN STILL ****ING WIN THE SHIP IN MARCH.

Iowa is extremely tough, but I'll be damned if I'm not gonna double my optimism and spirit in the face of adversity. I don't really watch other sports. This is the only team that I tie both my self-worth and happiness to their results. I don't like giving others the power to bring me joy or despair, especially when I have no control or personal tie to them, but this is my only fandom. This season is still going to be extremely fun.

WE ARE.

Cassar's title run last year was amazing, and he beat the presumed 4 timer twice. But in my mind, he cemented his Penn State legacy the year before when Snyder brought hell and it turned out to be the Raptor.

Are they just going to pull Nevills’s shirt or are they going to pull it and burn it?

Are you implying that he could come back but chose a last chance qualifier instead of wrestling for Penn State?

Sorry if I missed this: can Cassar get another year of eligibility since he is injured (I know he already got extended due to a pvs injury)?
He already has one more, if I'm not mistaken. The question is: will he use it?

Snyder wrestled Nevills the year before. Cassar wrestled, and beat, Moore.
