I don't think Jimmy was ever in the running, I think he was there to make sure everybody showed up on time.

He was brought in for one year only as "interim" coach, more for his squeaky clean reputation than coaching ability. I always laughed at sportswriters that had him on the hot seat. At least he didn't do as bad as John L Smith did as one year caretaker at Arkansas in 2012 after Petrino did his header on his bike with his mistress in tow.
