It's Michigan week. Penn State is ranked No. 2 by both the AP and USA Today Coaches top 25 polls. Surprisingly, Penn State's defense leads the country in scoring defense [9.0 PPG] and is tied with Central Michigan with 17 turnovers making them No. 1 in the country in that category.

It's a defensive performance like hasn't been seen in Happy Valley in close to a decade. Plus Penn State's defense has a stop rate, which is the measure of "the percentage of your defense's drives that end in punts, turnovers or turnover in downs" that is put together weekly by The Athletic's Max Olson is ranked No. 1 in the nation at 88.3 percent. At the beginning of the season name the member of the Penn State fan base that thought Penn State's defense could put that type of performance together.

If defense does win championships then it is easy to see why now the Penn State fan base thinks this Penn State team has a legitimate chance of winning its second consecutive BIG Championship and possibly playing in the College Football Playoff.

So there is a lot to discuss regarding the Penn State football program. Join me here this afternoon [Wed., Oct. 18] in the Lions Den for my weekly chat starting at 1 PM and let's talk some Penn State football.
