Chiefs - Raiders - perhaps worst and most incompetent call by refs in a long time.

DE sacks Carr and grabs ball from him on way down. The refs call roughing the passer and give first down to LV. WTF??

I think the rule sucks, but he landed on top of Carr and technically that’s a penalty.

it should be reviewable if they think there was intent to hurt QB. Clearly the player hit Carr who lost control of ball, player grabbed it then fell to ground. Are the laws of physics not applicable in the NFL now? It is absurd

Correct call. NFL sucks, I stick to college.

Look, the reason these things happen is because the owners want their investment protected. They want it this way. It's just another way of the wealthy, you'll watch and like it. Those quarterbacks are worth a lot of money to a franchise because you can't win without one and if you win their is big, big bucks in it for you.

Not disagreeing but how about basic change like on a QB fumble, all bets are off. KC won last night but if they lost, you could point to that play as a big reason. Fans, KC players and commentators were up in arms after the game even with Chiefs win.

Worse than the call was the player shoving a cameraman just doing his job because he was mad he didn't win.
F-ing pathetic.
Note to player, if not for the camera's no tv money, no tv money no big paychecks.
But the player is uber competitive. Hahaha, what a joke.

Tua's concussion protocol, return to the game then going out again the next week on a sling type tackle is the primary reason for the calls this past weekend. The referees were very likely told to flag anything that looks like the sling.

I've been wondering why players don't wear the padded helmets like Penn State does in practice in games? What's the big deal? Optics? Seriously, just wear the extra padded helmets in games, I don't think it inhibits performance but it obviously enhances safety.
I'm not quite sure I understand why this isn't even being discussed. Don Beebe used to play with one. I think Mark Kelso too.

I got a kick out of Troy Aikman's twist of Jack Lambert's line (not the walkon QB but the Steeler HoF linebacker) "let them wear skirts." However, JL said this back when that was acceptable. Today, Aikman took a risk as the NFL panders to female viewers in this day and age.

You know you're right. I didn't see until the replay that the DL actually stole the ball from Carr while before they both went to the ground. Seems to me that shouldn't be a foul even under the current rule.

Except he had the ball and the QB was a tackler, no longer a QB. Do RBs get called for putting their full weight on the tackler?
the ref stated, after the game, he is the QB on the play regardless of outcome. He was not a runner. So he enjoys those protections no matter if he had the ball or not. I am not stating that this is right or wrong, just what the ref said.

"The quarterback is in the pocket and he's in a passing posture," Cheffers explained to ESPN's Adam Teicher in the postgame pool report. "He gets full protection of all the aspects of what we give the quarterback in a passing posture. So, when he was tackled, my ruling was the defender landed on him with full body weight. The quarterback is protected from being tackled with full body weight. My ruling was roughing the passer for that reason."

Thanks, Obli. I did not know that. Now I wonder why QBs aren't pulling people on top of them after every pick they throw.

IMHO the league is over reacting to the Tua thing. QBs, like everyone else, are going to get hurt from time to time. The league screwed up their concussion protocol in Tua's case, and they are doing a bit of CYA.

The body weight issue is perplexing. I get they don't want 325 lb guys falling on 210 lb guys. But I don't know how that can be avoided. The defender is going balls out to disrupt the play. Makes complete sense that you might fall on someone. In this case, in slo mo, you can see the defender put his arm down to break the fall but, I guess, he should have tried to roll off the QB as they were coming down. And it is a bang-bang play.

IMHO, the ref called it correctly given the league's sensitivity post Tua but the league is going to have to learn to live with QBs taking a little pounding, at least.

I get that a pass rusher can purposely put all his body weight on a QB and I agree that penalizing is a good idea, but a guy doing it on purpose is one thing and having it happen even though the guy wasn't trying to do it is another and it looked like that latter to me.

It's crazy that it's roughing the passer for something the DL did to a guy that didn't even have the ball. He wasn't a passer as soon as the DL took the ball off him, which was before Carr hit the ground. Even if he still had that ball that looked like a good sack to me.

Then it needs to be consistent

The camera guy already filed a police report. Adams should be suspended for a significant time for that. The fact he's claiming he instantly regretted it yet didn't even stop to check on the guy or help him out is just another lie. He knew what he did. Hope the guys makes some serious cash off Adams even though I typically hate that stuff.

Ehhh--it seems like the majority of women and men support the comment--it's only a small percent that make everything an issue that are making negative comments about it
